TV
Guide Talks About "Justice"
The
January 15 issue of TV Guide magazine features a two-page
spread talking all about the highly-anticipated "Justice"
episode of Smallville, which airs on January 18.
The
spread includes a big photo that looks a lot like the screen capture
we have with this article, so if you want to see the picture all
nice and big, there's your chance.
Interviews
are inside with episode writer/director Steve DeKnight, Smallville
co-creator Alfred Gough, and Kyle Gallner (Bart Allen). There
are not a whole lot of new revelations, though both DeKnight and
a crew member noted that the episode gave Tom Welling's Clark
a rare opportunity to work with male co-stars.
"He
may have a scene with one guy every now and then, but he's not
surrounded by male friends on the show. So it was really nice,
not just for the character, but for Tom, to have that dynamic,"
DeKnight said.
Also
a new tidbit from Alfred Gough regarding the Green Arrow - spoiler-haters
avert your eyes - GreenArrowville might not yet be over. "He
may pop up in the last couple of episodes," Gough teases.

The
Martian Manhunter Is Cast!
The
January 8 issue of TV Guide (now hitting newsstands) reveals
that actor Phil Morris has landed the role of the Martian
Manhunter for the Jan. 25 episode of Smallville, which
is titled "Labyrinth."
To
most, Morris is best known for his role as Jackie Chiles on Seinfeld.
However, that is only one of his many credits. Other movies
or television series on his resume include Melrose Place, Love
Boat: The Next Wave, and the 1980s revival of Mission:
Impossible, where he played the son of Barney Collier, a character
played by Morris' real-life did Greg Morris in the original series.
And
he has some comic book connections. Morris played a Justice
League villain, Vandal Savage, on Justice League. On
a sitcom titled WIOU, Morris played a character named Eddie
Brock, but no, it wasn't Venom's alter ego. The super-hero thing
also runs in his family... his sister, Iona, was the voice of
Storm in the 1990's X-Men animated series. (If only they
had her dub over Halle Berry's atrocious dialogue in the movies...)

"Save
Clana" Campaign Total: Over $7,100
One
of the other fan-based charities to raise money in the name of
Smallville was the "Save Clana" campaign, where
a group of fans raised money for charities and awareness all at
the same time.
A
major portion of that money will be going directly to four charities:
The Red Cross, Greenpeace, the BC Children's Hospital, and the
Christopher Reeve foundation. (You'll notice that the first three
charities mentioned were also recipients of donations from the
Kristin Kreuk Birthday Project; a big part of the KKBP total actually
came from the Save Clana group).
Over
100 fans participated directly in Save Clana, and 236 letters
in support of the Clark & Lana "ship" were sent
to the Powers That Be.
Stay
tuned, because the "Save Clana" group may be doing something
new in the future.

BuddyTV Interview With Al Gough
The
BuddyTV website has spoken to Smallville co-creator and
executive producer Alfred Gough in a brand new interview.
They
talk to Al about doing the show as it is in its sixth year, whether
or not there will be a Season 7, and more.
Here
are some highlights:
Seeing
that fans have really responded well to the Green Arrow, are
there any plans to expand on this or spin him off?
There are
no plans to spin him off. We may bring him back...we sort of
have an arc, and he may pop up again, but that's going to be
determined upon whether or not Justin gets a pilot, and my guess
is he will. So, he's definitely a character that we can certainly
revisit, and if not later this season, perhaps next season.
You're hinting that Lionel and Martha will become a couple,
is this something that will truly materialize?
Ultimately,
no, because I think that Martha is too good and pure and sees
Lionel for what he really is, and the question really being
- when is Lionel going to really show his stripes again, which
we'll see in the latter half of the season.

Kevin
Smith Approached To Appear On Smallville?
Famed
writer-director Kevin Smith was asked to appear on a recent
Smallville episode featuring Green Arrow, according to
a recent interview at Bullz-Eye.com.
Here's
what he said:
BE:
Did you catch the Smallville episode last week,
where they brought on Green Arrow?
KS:
No! They asked me to be in that episode, too, but I couldnt
do it because I was out of town.
BE:
I havent seen it yet, either, but I saw the preview and
wanted to ask you about it.
KS:
They asked me to play
I guess he robs a comic book store,
and they asked me to be the guy who runs the comic book store,
so I thought that was very sweet and I wouldve done it
in a heartbeat, but I just couldnt be there for it.
This
is the first we'd heard of anything like this, but if it's true,
a Kevin Smith cameo or appearance would have been really cool.
Smith
will be busy in the coming weeks, as he has recently signed on
to a Showtime series based on the British show Manchild.

Entertainment
Weekly Features Smallville's Underrated Star &
Status As A "Freshly Painted Favorite"
The
Nov. 10, 2006 issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine (featuring
Heroes on the cover) features three mentions of Smallville
within.
First
up, on page 6, is a link to an EW.com
article that discusses how Allison Mack is one of the folks EW
readers think should be a "bigger star." Jensen Ackles
(Season 4's Jason, now on Supernatural) also makes that
list.
Then,
on page 14, the magazine talks about how The CW hasn't been the
immediate "profitable player" that it was expected to
be. Next to a photo of Tom Welling from "Cyborg," the
magazine notes that Smallville is The CW's second-most-watched
program, after America's Next Top Model.
And
finally, on page 68, EW includes Smallville on a list of
four "freshly painted" TV favorites. Here's what they
had to say about the show:
"New
to The CW's Superman series: fellow hottie-turned-crime fighter
the Green Arrow (Justin Hartley). It's nice to have somebody around
who knows Clark's secret besides Chloe, and who makes our goody-goody
hero question his values a bit. We're also loving the addition
of Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore) as Chloe's potential newsroom crush,
while the romance between Lana and Lex can only be described as
pure evil genius."

Glover: Last season or the season before, in the episode where

boy-girl crushes and things. But now that she's with Lex, Lionel
is starting to change his mind about her and see her as a woman.

When
asked if the character of "Callie Llewellyn," who was
recently in the series, was Busiek's take on "Chloe Sullivan,"
Busiek had the following to say:
"Not
remotely. I have a take on Chloe, but I want to do it with a DCU
version of Chloe. Everyone it's been brought up with at DC so
far likes it, so we're just hoping it'll be approved at all the
levels it needs to be approved at."
