TV Guide Talks About "Justice"
The January 15 issue of TV Guide magazine features a two-page spread talking all about the highly-anticipated "Justice" episode of Smallville, which airs on January 18.

The spread includes a big photo that looks a lot like the screen capture we have with this article, so if you want to see the picture all nice and big, there's your chance.

Interviews are inside with episode writer/director Steve DeKnight, Smallville co-creator Alfred Gough, and Kyle Gallner (Bart Allen). There are not a whole lot of new revelations, though both DeKnight and a crew member noted that the episode gave Tom Welling's Clark a rare opportunity to work with male co-stars.

"He may have a scene with one guy every now and then, but he's not surrounded by male friends on the show. So it was really nice, not just for the character, but for Tom, to have that dynamic," DeKnight said.

Also a new tidbit from Alfred Gough regarding the Green Arrow - spoiler-haters avert your eyes - GreenArrowville might not yet be over. "He may pop up in the last couple of episodes," Gough teases.

The Martian Manhunter Is Cast!
The January 8 issue of TV Guide (now hitting newsstands) reveals that actor Phil Morris has landed the role of the Martian Manhunter for the Jan. 25 episode of Smallville, which is titled "Labyrinth."

To most, Morris is best known for his role as Jackie Chiles on Seinfeld. However, that is only one of his many credits. Other movies or television series on his resume include Melrose Place, Love Boat: The Next Wave, and the 1980s revival of Mission: Impossible, where he played the son of Barney Collier, a character played by Morris' real-life did Greg Morris in the original series.

And he has some comic book connections. Morris played a Justice League villain, Vandal Savage, on Justice League. On a sitcom titled WIOU, Morris played a character named Eddie Brock, but no, it wasn't Venom's alter ego. The super-hero thing also runs in his family... his sister, Iona, was the voice of Storm in the 1990's X-Men animated series. (If only they had her dub over Halle Berry's atrocious dialogue in the movies...)

"Save Clana" Campaign Total: Over $7,100
One of the other fan-based charities to raise money in the name of Smallville was the "Save Clana" campaign, where a group of fans raised money for charities and awareness all at the same time.

A major portion of that money will be going directly to four charities: The Red Cross, Greenpeace, the BC Children's Hospital, and the Christopher Reeve foundation. (You'll notice that the first three charities mentioned were also recipients of donations from the Kristin Kreuk Birthday Project; a big part of the KKBP total actually came from the Save Clana group).

Over 100 fans participated directly in Save Clana, and 236 letters in support of the Clark & Lana "ship" were sent to the Powers That Be.

Stay tuned, because the "Save Clana" group may be doing something new in the future.

Smallville Season 6 DVD Will Feature... You!
We have just received word that the Season 6 DVD for Smallville, which will probably hit stores in late 2007, will have a special feature highlighting some very important people... the Smallville fans.

Stay tuned for more information. We'll post it as we get it.

New BuddyTV Interview With Al Gough
The BuddyTV website has spoken to Smallville co-creator and executive producer Alfred Gough in a brand new interview.

They talk to Al about doing the show as it is in its sixth year, whether or not there will be a Season 7, and more.

Here are some highlights:

Seeing that fans have really responded well to the Green Arrow, are there any plans to expand on this or spin him off?

There are no plans to spin him off. We may bring him back...we sort of have an arc, and he may pop up again, but that's going to be determined upon whether or not Justin gets a pilot, and my guess is he will. So, he's definitely a character that we can certainly revisit, and if not later this season, perhaps next season.

You're hinting that Lionel and Martha will become a couple, is this something that will truly materialize?

Ultimately, no, because I think that Martha is too good and pure and sees Lionel for what he really is, and the question really being - when is Lionel going to really show his stripes again, which we'll see in the latter half of the season.

DVD Review: The Dukes of Hazzard: The Complete Seventh Season
Years before John Schneider directed the Smallville episode "Talisman" and his Dukes co-star Tom Wopat guest starred on "Exposed," Schneider had his directorial debut on an episode of The Dukes of Hazzard titled "Opening Night At The Boar's Nest."

Little did he know it would be the series' final episode. He also co-wrote that installment of the show.

The Dukes of Hazzard: The Complete Seventh Season features the final 17 episodes of the long running CBS show. The set hit stores recently, on Tuesday, December 5.

MV: Would you be up for a Green Arrow spin-off?

JH: People are always asking me that, and my answer is always, "I'm doing Smallville right now and I can't really focus until I'm done with it." Kevin Smith Approached To Appear On Smallville?
Famed writer-director Kevin Smith was asked to appear on a recent Smallville episode featuring Green Arrow, according to a recent interview at Bullz-Eye.com.

Here's what he said:

BE: Did you catch the “Smallville” episode last week, where they brought on Green Arrow?

KS: No! They asked me to be in that episode, too, but I couldn’t do it because I was out of town.

BE: I haven’t seen it yet, either, but I saw the preview and wanted to ask you about it.

KS: They asked me to play…I guess he robs a comic book store, and they asked me to be the guy who runs the comic book store, so I thought that was very sweet and I would’ve done it in a heartbeat, but I just couldn’t be there for it.

This is the first we'd heard of anything like this, but if it's true, a Kevin Smith cameo or appearance would have been really cool.

Smith will be busy in the coming weeks, as he has recently signed on to a Showtime series based on the British show Manchild.

Entertainment Weekly Features Smallville's Underrated Star & Status As A "Freshly Painted Favorite"
The Nov. 10, 2006 issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine (featuring Heroes on the cover) features three mentions of Smallville within.

First up, on page 6, is a link to an EW.com article that discusses how Allison Mack is one of the folks EW readers think should be a "bigger star." Jensen Ackles (Season 4's Jason, now on Supernatural) also makes that list.

Then, on page 14, the magazine talks about how The CW hasn't been the immediate "profitable player" that it was expected to be. Next to a photo of Tom Welling from "Cyborg," the magazine notes that Smallville is The CW's second-most-watched program, after America's Next Top Model.

And finally, on page 68, EW includes Smallville on a list of four "freshly painted" TV favorites. Here's what they had to say about the show:

"New to The CW's Superman series: fellow hottie-turned-crime fighter the Green Arrow (Justin Hartley). It's nice to have somebody around who knows Clark's secret besides Chloe, and who makes our goody-goody hero question his values a bit. We're also loving the addition of Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore) as Chloe's potential newsroom crush, while the romance between Lana and Lex can only be described as pure evil genius."

E! Online's Kristin Talks To Justin Hartley
E! Online's TV diva and "frienemy" to Mike Ausiello, Kristin Veitch, has posted a new interview with Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen/The Green Arrow).

In the interview, Justin is asked about things such as the Clois fans' "Piggybank Campaign." He apparently has a strange fascination with former Superman Dean Cain, but then again, who doesn't have one of those. He also teases a bit as to what is to come in future episodes for his character, and reveals that the big January Justice League episode, appropriately titled "Justice," is "one of the best scripts I've read.".

The CW Cancels Runaway
The CW Network has cancelled their new series Runaway, making it the first cancellation of the new network.

What does that mean for Smallville, you ask? Well, if you miss Thursday night's broadcast of "Arrow" the episode will be re-airing Sunday night at 7PM (ET). The following week on Sunday at 7, The CW will be alternating in another repeat - that week, an episode of Supernatural.

Runaway's quick cancellation would make someone wonder how much better the network would have fared if they had picked up Aquaman. (Yep, we're still not letting this go). Hopefully they'll make up from their mistake and give Justin Hartley his own, different superhero character show next season.

Michael McKean (Season 3's "Perry White" and husband to "Martha" Annette O'Toole) will soon be performing in London on the West End titled "Love Song." The play, which also features Cillian Murphy, Neve Campbell, and Kristen Johnson, will run through February.

McKean will also be a celebrity participant on Jeopardy! in an episode to air in late November.

Unfortunately, being on the other side of the globe means it's not likely we will be seeing Perry White on Smallville this season.

The Music of "Wither"
Already we're getting a lot of e-mails asking about the music in last night's episode of Smallville.

The episode featured an appearance by the All-American Rejects, who played "It Ends Tonight" on camera. But more elusive to fans was that song that played all throughout the fifth act.

The song you are looking for is "Ache" by James Carrington. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this song is available for purchase at this time - however, you can find him (and hear the song) on Myspace by clicking on this link!

Reminder: John Glover Walks For Alzheimer's Oct. 14 & 15
And hey, look... new photos!

John Glover (Lionel) will again be participating in a Memory Walk this year to support the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Maryland Chapter.

Glover is scheduled to walk in the Salisbury, MD walk on October 14 and the Towson, MD walk on October 15. It is hopeful that another auction of Smallville items will happen to go with the Walk, as it has in earlier years.

KryptonSite webmaster Craig Byrne will be headed to Maryland and participating in the Salisbury walk and is looking for sponsors. His goal is to raise over $1,000 to benefit Alzheimer's. Click here to sponsor him and help him raise money for this very important cause - it'll be helpful, and it'll make the M.B. happy! NOTE: LESS THAN TWO DAYS ARE LEFT AND STILL ABOUT $300 TO GO FOR MY GOAL. SO IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, PLEASE DONATE!!!

If you'd like to join John Glover's team and walk yourself, or if you would like more info, visit http://www.jackglover.org.

UPDATE: In the weeks/months following the Walk the Alzheimer's Association will be having yet another Auction of Smallville-related items and memorabilia. No details yet on some of the items that will be included, although we do know that one of the items is an afghan designed by Annette O'Toole with squares knitted by members of Smallville's cast and crew.

We have been provided with two photos of the afghan which you can see by clicking here. If you look at the photos you can spot and recognize John Glover, Tom Welling, Annette O'Toole, Allison Mack, Justin Hartley, and Erica Durance.

Teenage Fan's Set Visit Includes Welling & Hartley Interviews
A young fan who wrote a piece on why Smallville's Clark Kent is better than the movies' Superman was given the opportunity to visit the Vancouver sets of the show and interviewed the show's two future heroes, Tom Welling (Clark) and Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen/The Green Arrow).

Julia Waterhous then wrote a piece for the Seattle Times about the visit, including the new interview material.

Some highlights: Julia asked Tom Welling if his character will ever don the familiar red and blue costume of Superman in the series. "No," he told her emphatically. "This show will always be about Clark Kent. The transition to Superman is so catastrophic that it's a whole new show once he starts flying around."

The article talks about one of Smallville's newest sets - Oliver Queen's penthouse - and Julia also interviews Justin Hartley, who will be playing Oliver, aka the Green Arrow. Justin reveals that his young daughter likes calling him Aquaman - "which is kind of embarrassing, having your daughter call you the name of a canceled show." (Aquaman was a separate TV series proposed for this season that never surfaced)

Justin Hartley Talks Aquaman & Green Arrow
His character may not be in tonight's season premiere, but that hasn't stopped Starry Constellation Magazine from posting a new interview with Justin Hartley (Green Arrow).

In the interview, Justin reveals which actors he has or hasn't worked with yet, what kind of research went into his character,

Here's a sample quote: "I don't know how many superheroes I'm going to play in my life. But so far, the two I've played, you get more familiar with them as you go along. I'm in the loop now, I know every comic book store within a ten mile radius of Los Angeles. I know which websites to go to, so it's pretty fun."

Hopefully this is one of those websites, right Justin?

Soap Opera Digest Catches Up With Justin Hartley
Special thanks to: Abby

A new interview with Justin Hartley talks about his shooting Smallville and his upcoming role as Green Arrow in Season 6.

The article reveals that G.A. rides a motorcycle, and offers this commentary on whether or not he did research for the role:

"Of course I did! I read a bunch of comics and books. You can watch other actors that you admire that played superheroes. I was watching Michael Keaton and Christian Bale and their takes on Batman. It's interesting because that helps me with this character more than it did for Aquaman because Green Arrow is more like a Batman character. Also, I studied Clive Owen in Inside Man. He doesn't play a superhero, but this guy is a bad guy, and the whole movie, he's acting with sunglasses on, a hood and a mask up to his nose, so all you see is his forehead. The Green Arrow costume is a little bit concealing as far as the eyes go. A lot of times when you're acting, you use your eyes. When you're covered up, you can't do that. There are some times when you actually see my face on the show, so that's good [laughs]. It's not even me. It's a lie. I just feel bad about the Aquaman thing, so I just tell everybody I'm on SMALLVILLE."
