The
Hollywood North Report website has posted a new interview with
Tom Welling from the set of "The Fog." The advantage
they had, though, was that since Tom isn't really allowed to
discuss his new movie, he instead talked about Smallville!
You
can read the entire interview, conducted by Robert Falconer,
here.
Here's a sample from the interview, where Tom talks whether
it's more interesting to play a villain instead of a hero:
"The
quick answer is yes. Im not sure if that comes out of
an ultimate understanding of playing villains as being more
fun, or if its because I rarely get to play them and the
few times that I have, I had such a great time because its
so much different from what I ordinarily play. Obviously, people
say that change is as good as a holiday, but at least in the
case of our show, I think when you have characters like Lionel
Luthor who have so much going on, and its dark
and its dirty and its conniving and its manipulative
theres a lot more you can do in a scene. On the
other hand, if youre playing a person who is just trying
to help all the time, I find youre following youre
not leading so much. A character like Lionel Luthor can just
make things happen. A character like Clark is always trying
to figure things out and make things better. Its a trick
to make the hero more proactive than reactive. Ultimately, I
think playing different characters whatever they may
be is always good."

Gough Reveals A Finale Cliffhanger's Resolution?
In a recent article in USA Today, Smallville's executive
producer Alfred Gough may have let slip the truth about
what happened in one of the fourth season finale's cliffhangers.
Mark Verheiden Returns To Superman
Former Smallville writer Mark Verheiden, who penned such
favorites as "Perry," "Rogue," "X-Ray,"
and "Heat," has taken on DC Comics' Superman comic
book title as of issue #217, which hit stores last week.
The
new storyline ties in to DC's Infinite Crisis-preceding
OMAC Project mini-series and features artwork by Ed Benes
that is so good that you don't even miss that Jim Lee guy too
much.
Michael
Rosenbaum Is Full Of Sith Michael Rosenbaum was one of the celebrity actors who
offered their opinions of the new Star Wars movie, Revenge
of the Sith, at StarWars.com.
"I
was torn for Anakin Skywalker because the Jedi put him in this
position in a way, so you feel more for the villain," Rosenbaum
explained at the site. "I loved it because it was darker,
action-packed and everything a Star Wars fan wants out of the
final episode. It's so much more than I ever imagined. Right
when the film finished I went from this overwhelming joy to
this depression. I had to lie down."
"I
came here with my friends on a road trip from Los Angeles in
my conversion van," Rosenbaum continued. "We were
playing the Star Wars DVDs in the van on the way here. I was
walking around on the Ranch in my Lucas Ranch robe, and I was
playing with the lightsabers like a kid. And then all of a sudden
this movie ends and I became incredibly sad because part of
my childhood lives on with these films. But deep down I know
that Star Wars will always be around. That's one thing I always
love about Star Wars is that it's a constant conversation piece.
Star Wars characters are universal, like Superman or Mickey
Mouse. It's iconic and there forever."
"When
I went to the theater and I saw all these other actors just
tear up while watching the film; it affected everyone,"
Rosenbaum adds. "Everything about this movie from the music
to the CGI to the actors to the story is just overwhelming.
I'm just blown away by the whole thing. This was the best day
of my life. My friends and I are speechless. I recommend everyone
go see this film."
Some editorializing
here from KryptonSite: We agree, you will likely not be disappointed
- and hey, you may even see some parallels between Smallville
and Star Wars!

Glover
& Rosenbaum Talk "Forever" In Cult Times
Special thanks to: GL2000
Issue
#117 of Cult Times magazine features interviews from
the set of the "Forever" episode of Smallville
courtesy of Thomasina Gibson. Within
the article are quotes from John Glover (Lionel)
and Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) where they specifically discuss
"Forever.
What
I do with Michael [Rosenbaum] is we work on the yin and the
yang of our relationship and in this episode there was just
a beautiful, easy kind of quality that I think we found once
Jensen and Jane had gone away. That is the thing that comes
to mind that I hope when it comes together will be very strong.
Thats whats so beautiful about working with Michael.
We totally give and complement each other. What the writers
have written about the relationship is that there is a very
deep love and a longing to love and trust each other but it
just keeps getting demolished all the time," Glover said
about the episode.

REALLY BIG "Commencement" Trailer Caps!
Mr. Video has sent us another batch of hi-res screen captures
from yet another promotional trailer for Smallville's
90-minute season finale, which airs TONIGHT (May 18) at 8PM.
Some
of these caps are VERY SPOILERY. They also are very large
(larger than what we usually post around here!), so keep that
in mind if you're on a slow connection. And of course, spread
the word and get your Smallville-loving friends to visit
K-Site and check this stuff out too!
Tonight:
Smallville Season 4 Finale! Smallville season finale episodes are usually the ones
that pull out all the stops and keep us guessing for the entire
summer. Tonight's episode should be no exception.
As
a bonus to make us anticipate the episode even more, they've
upped the episode length to 90 minutes which will include
a ten-minute preview of the highly-anticipated "Batman
Begins" movie.
Enjoy the episode, and be sure to come back after the show and
talk about it on the forum!
And as always, look for ratings information on Thursday.
Video: Jensen Ackles Talks The Smallville Finale
A new "Random Rant" video at TheWB.com

judging from the events of "Forever," whose to even
say he'll be in it?
Either
way, lots of spoilers in Jensen's "Random Rant" video
at TheWB.com.
In
another video clip also posted at the WB site, Jensen talks
about what it's like to do a season finale after so many months
of filming. No spoilers are in this clip. Click

Smallville
Flies To Thursdays For Season 5
The WB's Fall 2005 schedule has been announced, and Smallville
is finally leaving its very-busy Wednesday-at-8 timeslot.
Look
for Clark & the crew to be on Thursday nights as they take
on their college years starting this Fall. Joining them at 9PM
will be Everwood.
Here's
how the WB describes the new season on their official website
(not TOO spoilery, but be warned just in case):
Smallville
continues to successfully explore the legacy of one of America's
greatest cultural icons. With a rabid fanbase and 3 top-selling
seasons on DVD, it's clear that Clark Kent's journey into
manhood will keep on thrilling millions of young adult WB
viewers.
For Clark
(Tom Welling), now the most eligible bachelor in Kansas, it's
hard hiding his extraordinary gifts behind farmboy flannel.
Now he's off to college, enrolling close to his home (and
sweetheart Lana), but still heeding the call of his Kryptonian
destiny. Remaining true to the original mythology, Clark finds
himself traveling great distances to unlock his true potential.
Lex Luthor, meanwhile, continues battling for control of his
father's company as he comes to realize his own destiny, one
bent on power, destruction, and revenge.
The move
to Thursdays also brings out some new competition - sitcoms
(Joey and Will & Grace) on NBC, and ABC's
Alias is moving to the same time slot. All of the networks
have not yet announced their plans, so The O.C. and Survivor
may also still be on Thursdays at 8 too.
This
season, we're making a bold statement on Thursday nights by
moving one of our signature hits, Smallville to 8:00,
WB Entertainment President David Janollari said in a press release.
The show faced some of the toughest competition of any
series on television this season, going up against Lost every
week, yet it continued to deliver great ratings, he said..
With the critically acclaimed drama Everwood moving
into the 9:00 timeslot, we think Thursday will be one of the
most compelling nights of the upcoming season. Led by Treat
Williams, Everwood features one of the strongest ensemble
casts and some of the best writing on television.
For The Curious: The WB's 2005-2006 Schedule
And what of your other WB favorites? Here's the schedule for
the new year:
Monday
8PM 7th Heaven
9PM Just Legal
Tuesday
8PM Gilmore Girls
9PM Supernatural
Wednesday
8PM One Tree Hill
9PM Related
Thursday
8PM Smallville
9PM Everwood
Friday
8PM What I Like About You
8:30 Twins 9PM Reba
9:30 Living With Fran
Sunday
7PM Reba: Beginnings (2 episodes)
8PM Charmed 9PM Blue Collar TV (2 episodes)
The
WB's Fall Preview at their official site can be found here.
Jensen
Ackles' Supernatural Series Lands On Tuesday Nights Jensen Ackles' Smallville exit is now a sure thing
as Supernatural, a new series starring him alongside
Jared Padalecki (Gilmore Girls), will be taking over
Smallville's old Tuesday-at-9 timeslot.

here for more details and some promotional photos from
Jensen's newest show!
The
Many Faces Of... Batman
What does Batman have to do with Smallville, you ask?
Well, there's a 10-minute preview of "Batman Begins"
airing with the season finale on Wednesday night, so we figured
it'd be the perfect time for Russ Dimino to break out "The
Many Faces Of... Batman!"
Read
about the many actors who have played the Dark Knight over the
years, and discover Batman's other Smallville connections.
Lizzy
Caplan In New WB Series
Jensen Ackles isn't the only Smallville veteran to appear
in a Fall 2005 series on the WB.
Lizzy
Caplan, who played Tina Greer in "X-Ray" and "Visage,"
is one of the stars of the new Wednesday-night series Related.
