John Glover In Starburst: Highlights!
John Glover (Lionel) is featured in a five-page article
in issue #322 of Starburst magazine.
In
the interview, Glover talks about working with Christopher Reeve,
Lionel's new direction in Season 4, learning from his co-stars,
and more.
Here
are some highlights:
On
Christopher Reeve, the former 'Superman' who guest starred in
"Legacy" and "Rosetta" who sadly died last
year:
"I worked on-stage with Christopher back in 1980, and then
again with him last year on Smallville," recalls
Glover. "I was amazed to see what you could call it a rather
profound change in his work. Christopher's acting had become
much more focused. He seemed to be so in touch with himself
as well as what he was doing, and was aware of everything and
everyone around him." ... "Tom Welling worked with
Christopher in both Smallville episodes that he did,
and I know he was quite impressed by him. Christopher had a
delightful sense of humour and a zest for life. Rather than
using his energy to dwell on his [horse-riding] accident and
what happened to him, he channelled it to transform himself
as a human being and an actor. I'll never forget him."
On
learning from his co-stars:
"I've learnt a great deal from Michael Rosenbaum, Annette
O'Toole and Allison Mack [Chloe Sullivan]," notes Glover.
"A while back I found I'd lost a little of my sense of
'play' as an actor, and they helped me rediscover that. Also,
I'm an only child, and as such a number of my family skills
weren't as good as they've become since I joined Smallville.
I'm sure that will serve me well for the rest of my life."
The
latest Starburst is on newsstands and book stores now.
