FORMER "SUPERMAN" IN THE HOSPITAL

Charlottesville, Va.,May 28 (Reuter) - Christopher Reeve, the actor who portrayed Superman in several films, was in stable condition and recovering in a hospital on Sunday after falling head first from a horse, a spokeswoman for the actor said.

The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon as Reeve was participating in an equestrian competition in Culpeper, Va., said Monk Reynolds, owner of Commonwealth Park where the contest took place.

``The horse just stopped dead and he went straight over the horse's head,'' Reynolds said.

Reeve, who was wearing a helmet, landed on his head and suffered a neck injury, said Lisa Kasteler, a spokeswoman for the actor. The University of Virginia Medical Centre confirmed that Reeve was admitted to the hospital but a spokesman gave no further details.

The accident on the horse ``Eastern Express'' occurred at the third jump of the cross-country Spring Horse Trials of the Commonwealth Drussage and Combined Training Association, Reynolds said.

Reeve, 42, gained international fame in 1978 when, as a little known-actor, he was chosen to portray the cartoon hero Superman. He appeared in a total of four Superman films between 1978 and 1987, and has acted both on stage and in other films.

L&C SIGHTINGS

1991's "Soapdish" will air on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. on Cinemax. It is about a soap opera queen's personal life, and features Teri Hatcher as a member of the cast.

Then, on Thursday/Friday morning at 1:10 a.m., Showtime will be airing the much-talked-about Teri Hatcher film "The Cool Surface." See what everyone's been talking about, but be warned, it's a really bad movie! But, Teri is fun to look at, so you might want to check it out anyway. =^)

CHEVY 1969 SAYS.....

"I have often seen messages in the L&C folders critical of Teri Hatcher for some of her choices in movie roles. I personally don't see anything wrong with her wanting to play characters who are very different from Lois Lane during her hiatus. I realize that some of the roles may be evil or racey (such as "The Cool Surface", "All Tied Up", and "The Brainsmasher- A Love Story") and maybe that's why they are hardly ever mentioned in her present bios. But it's possible if she has the freedom to act these other parts, then maybe she will never get bored or tired with playing Lois Lane. Hey, let's give her a break!"

L&C POLL

If you could bring back one character from L&C's past, who would it be? Here are some choices. E-mail KryptonFX@aol.com or Krypton92@aol.com with one of the following names:

* Lois's Mom * Jack * Landes Jimmy * Cat Grant * The Toyman * The Prankster * Lex Luthor * Metallo * Lucy Lane * Sarah * Dr. Friskin * Diana Stride * Rolph (Diana's assistant) * Sound Man

You can also write in someone else, if they weren't mentioned.

=====KRYPTON CLUB PROFILE: CHAKESPEAR=====

Currently, I'm the Legal Intern for the Wyoming Crime Victim's Compensation Commission (one of those nice, super-hero, social service agencies). I also write (songs and am partially done with both a screenplay and my "Great American Novel"). I TRY to play guitar, which is a nice thing to do if you write songs, but I'm not very good.

I probably hold the record for holding the greatest number of unique jobs: Alternative radio D.J., director for an acting contest sponsored by "Santa Barbara", college football ticket scalper (Univ. of Alabama), model (but I'm too short to be successful at that), front-woman for two bands, movie critic, video rental clerk (nickname = encyclopedia), bartender for a private social club, AND jewelry store saleswoman.

Enough? Or do you want more?

My favorite ep? ATAI - of course. Loved the talking into the mirror bit. I should have asked Dean why he keeps doing William Shatner imitations (i.e. Tempes - "Excuse me, did you find a baby in a spaceship"; also in ATAI w/ the mirror)

My favorite quote (there are SO many to choose from!): "...and THIS..." - if you don't know what I'm referring to - you don't watch "old" eps enough (WWW).

TODAY'S TRIVIA

Here is the trivia question for today.....

Which kid from "The Brady Bunch" appeared on an episode of L&C during the first season?

AVIGAEL4LC, EMMIE, MHEBERT974, SARAH GEVLIN, and SOUNDSQUAW all got the answer to the name of Lois's father, Sam. But no one was able to figure out that Lois's mother's name is Ellen Lane. The closest person to getting that one right was EMMIE, who guessed "Ella." Everyone did seem to know that Lois's mom was played by Phyllis Coates, who played Lois in the 1950's "Adventures of Superman" series (otherwise known as Secretary & Superman: The Old Adventures of Superman"...just kidding).

Send your answers and trivia guesses via e-mail to KryptonFX@aol.com or Krypton92@aol.com. Even if you don't know it, it's worth a try!

That's it for this newsletter! Hope you enjoyed it!
