Superman For All Seasons
Smallville explores the story of a young Clark Kent and his place in the world on television. In the comics, this was very well illustrated in Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's "Superman For All Seasons." This has been labeled a "must read" by many fans and also listed as the favorite Superman story of recent years by many. Check it out! Jeph Loeb will be writing and producing for Smallville's second season so this might be an indicator of what's to come for next year.

Real-Life Pete Ross Runs For Senate
Posted by: KryptonSite

In the Superman comic books, Pete Ross became a senator and later Vice-President of the United States. Now, someone who happens to share his name is also running for Senate, in Washington D.C. Check out this link:

http://www.peteross2002.com

Thanks to Brian for the tip. What more can we say but good luck, and let's hope this Pete Ross gets to say more than three lines per week. This guy's lobbying for equal representation for Washington D.C. residents doesn't seem to be all that far from our own Pete's quest for better school books. If a real Lex Luthor surfaces, you may want to worry.

Jeph Loeb Interview At The Superman Homepage
New Smallville writer Jeph Loeb was recently interviewed at the Superman Homepage, where he talked about the environment of working on the show and also how it relates to writing the comics. Here's a brief excerpt, where Jeph answers the question of how writing TV-Clark contrasts with writing the comics:

"Clark in the comics is a grown up. If we were to write about ourselves in high school, the cares and concerns compared to an adult are radical to say the least. The joy, however, is that in the character who was reinvented by Executive Producers Al Gough and Miles Millar, Clark is still working on not only being someone with powers; he's still working on being a young man, too. His concerns about what others think of him; his secrets; his loves. All of that is brimming. Later in life, he'll find happiness with Lois and stability with the Daily Planet, so his concerns are more on the Superman side of things."

You can read the rest of the interview at the Superman Homepage by clicking here. While you're there look around -- webmaster Steve Younis (who also conducted the interview) does a tremendous job with the site.

It's Back: Planet Krypton: The KryptonSite Newsletter
Before there was a KryptonSite, there was Planet Krypton, an online newsletter devoted to the television series Lois & Clark. The newsletter evolved and began covering Smallville news, and that then it evolved again into what eventually became this very website.

Over the past year we've fallen behind with newsletter updates, even though many people did sign up at Yahoo! to receive the newsletter.

We still believe that this website is a far more effective tool in getting the word out, much more effective than a newsletter. However, those of you who would like to be kept abreast of new and big things to show up at KryptonSite are encouraged and welcomed to sign up for the new Planet Krypton. It's free, it may smell a little bit like spam, but at least it'd be spam about good stuff, right? While you're there you can read some of the older newsletters, including some that were written when Smallville was only in development!

And of course, even if you're not interested in the newsletter, you can always find the latest Smallville news here at the site. Please let us know how we're doing, and thanks for visiting the site!

Smallville Executive Producer Talks To Zap2it.com
Smallville Executive Producer Alfred Gough was recently interviewed by Zap2it.com, where he began with talking about how Smallville easily filled the void created by the loss of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the WB.

He then revealed some tidbits about the second season (which of course loyal KryptonSite viewers were able to read weeks ago!) and reflected on the first. "I think we were, on the whole, very happy with season one," he said. "What's interesting for us with season two is we find that we still have a lot of stories left to tell, which is always good. There were a lot of things held back from season one that we can start to explore in season two, which will be a lot of fun, certainly for us, and also for fans of the show."

Mr. Gough then spoke high praises for Michael Rosenbaum and his portryal of Lex Luthor, and offered an insight on the characters of Clark and Lex that hasn't been discussed much. "Even if you look through the course of the first season, Clark was lying to Lex much more than Lex ever lied to Clark," Al said. "Lex never did anything unless somebody came at him first. You have to throw the first punch before Lex comes at you."

Finally, Al talked about Eric Johnson and his thankless role as the now-departed Whitney. Those curious about Whitney's fate might want to read the complete article, which you can get to by clicking here.
