Tom Welling at the 2005 TCA Summer Press Tour
Tom Welling presented the news of James Marsters and Tom Wopat's casting to reporters in Beverly Hills, California today at the 2005 TCA Summer Press Tour.

"We have a lot of surprises in store. The entire cast is re-energized, with our amazing finale last season, and we think our upcoming season will continue that momentum," Tom revealed.

• Tom revealed James Marsters, in his new role, won't have a British accent and blond hair. "Which I'm kind of sad about, but we'll see," Tom joked.
• Clark will explore the Fortress of Solitude in the current season, and Tom says the set is huge and spectacular.
• Tom says that the show's 100th episode will be huge.
• Tom is excited that John Schneider will soon be reunited with his Dukes of Hazzard co-star Tom Wopat. "I don't know what's gonna happen with the storyline, but I'd really love to see those two slug it out. I mean, how fun would that be?"
• Tom says he's had a great run on Smallville, and looks forward to the continued evolution of the character.
