At the Smallville 200th Episode Red Carpet on Saturday night, KryptonSite and several other media outlets spoke with members of the show's cast and crew for exclusive interviews.
Today, we're posting our interview with a man who needs to introduction - Tom Welling, the series lead who has not only been the center of the show for ten years, but also has grown into a fantastic director and producer.
Expect many more interviews to come here on KryptonSite between now and the airing of the show's 200th episode on Friday, October 15.
Please do not repost this interview on other websites; instead just link directly to it. Thanks! Smallville Season 10 airs Fridays at 8PM on The CW! Questions to Tom are in bold; answers are not.
What was it like to reunite with John Schneider in the season premiere?
It was great. Working with John, with all of the years we spent together, he's such a great actor and he's the perfect Jonathan Kent. I can't imagine anybody else being there, and when he walked on the set it was like he never left, and we were right back to Clark and Dad. So, it was fantastic.
Fans really seem to enjoy the episodes of Smallville that you have directed. Can you talk about that experience, and tell us what you have coming up next?
I really enjoy it. I love to be a part of the creative process, in what the show will look like, and what the showis, influencing the other characters, and just trying to make it as great as it can be. I hope to do more.
The episode itself, I think, is going to be a very big episode. It's going to deal with the big story arc of heroes, with Green Arrow and the Justice League. I really love directing the episodes that deal with the big issues that are in Clark's life, and we're going to deal with a gigantic one in that episode.
Have you mentally prepared for doing the final episode of Smallville after 10 years?
No. I haven't. I don't know what we're going to do. I don't think Kelly and Brian sleep at night, figuring it out. We want to make it great. We want to make it great for the fans and really end on a high note. Right now, we're just taking it day-by-day, episode-by-episode, trying to make everything as good as it can.
