smallville season 10 posterSmallville's Executive Producer Kelly Souders Offers Finale Hints!

Interview by Craig Byrne

KryptonSite was one of several media outlets who just spoke with Smallville's Executive Producer Kelly Souders about the final installments of the series.

The last run of episodes starts April 15 with an episode titled "Kent." From there on out, we will have new episodes through May 13 when the show's 10-year journey comes to an end.

We'll be posting the full interview with Kelly Souders next week, but because most of you over on Twitter promised you'd watch the Pilot re-airing if something was posted early, we've got some items about the series finale that we couldn't resist posting.

In what we'll post next week, we'll discuss many things, including the upcoming return appearances of Jonathan Kent, Kara, and Zod; the coming of Booster Gold and the Blue Beetle; and of course, more on the finale.

Here's some of what we did get out of her about the top-secret finale:

"It was a blast," Kelly said about getting to write for Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor again in the May 13 series finale. "I have to say he's one of the most fun characters to write for, because he's so smart, and so manipulative, yet has a heart, and in some very odd way, he's managed to keep some part of it all the way through. The way everything plays out, he actually plays a very large role in helping Clark become Superman."

And for a Smallville finale that has Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor, what are the chances of even hearing mentions of Perry White and Jimmy Olsen? "I think that if you're a real fan of the comics, Superman with the characters of Perry White and Jimmy Olsen and that whole world, you'll walk away with a warm, fuzzy feeling," she teases.

Finally, a recent CW promo for the repeat of the Smallville pilot airing April 8 as well as a teaser for the show's final episode had some familiar tunes from John Williams' classic Superman movie score. Could we be hearing it on May 13 when we watch the final episode? "I'll just say that that would make me happier than anything," she laughs. "What I love about that theme is that it almost just resembles your heartbeat when you're getting excited about getting to see Superman."

When it comes to Superman, can she tell us - do we see Clark in the suit or don't we? Souders was vague, but she did drop hints. "We all know that Smallville has been about the journey to becoming Superman, but I think that you'll definitely have a sense of who he is by the time the show is over," she says.

Smallville's 10-year journey comes to an end May 13 on The CW. Don't miss a special re-airing of the show's pilot episode on April 8, and remember new episodes start again April 15 with "Kent!" Also look to KryptonSite next week for more of this interview. Please do not repost this interview on other websites; instead just link directly to it. Thanks!
