At the Vancouver Fan Expo this weekend, Tom Welling shared the screen with his on-screen “Lois Lane” Erica Durance and discussed his hopes for the potential Smallville animated continuation project that he’s working on with Michael Rosenbaum (Lex).
“We’re working an on animated series that picks up right after our Smallville, again telling our own story and our vision,” Tom told the audience, before going into some of his hopes, beginning with getting Erica as Lois Lane.
“It might be tough to get Allison,” Tom joked in reference to Allison Mack (Chloe), prompting Erica to make a reference to Zoom video calls. Kristin Kreuk and Sam Jones III were also name-checked, and Tom said that Lionel Luthor is going to be a big part of it. “John Glover wants to do it,” he said.
“We’ve already got the animation; we just don’t have the stories yet because Al and Miles are busy making Tim Burton movies and stuff, but as soon as they are done with that, we’re going to do this. I want to be Clark’s voice, I want Erica to be Lois’s… that’s going to be the fun of it,” he enthused. Sadly, the characters won’t be on camera in live action, as the crossover was, prompting Tom to joke “do you really want to see Michael Rosenbaum as Lex right now?” (Yes, we do.)
You can see video of the convention appearance below. Tom’s comments about the animated project come around the 26 minute mark.
