Might we ever see some Smallville stars on Superman & Lois?
That was a topic discussed in an interview with Executive Producer Todd Helbing on the Looper website, where among other things, Todd was asked what it was like to see Tom Welling and Erica Durance – who starred Smallville where Helbing had his first professional script credit (with his brother Aaron) for the episode “Hero” – in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover.
“I love what they did with Tom Welling and Erica, that they were married, and that farm is so iconic. I would love to see either of those two on our show,” Todd answered. I’m not sure how we would fit them in yet, but that would be a lot of fun.” (Helbing said “Tom is awesome” when we asked a similar question in a KryptonSite interview last year.)
The Looper interviewer also mentioned their desire to see Michael Rosenbaum on Superman & Lois as well, and here’s what Todd said:
“You know what, that’s a good point. He is fantastic. He was such an awesome Lex.”
Helbing also discussed the differences between writing for Smallville and writing for S&L. “Clark is now a father and Lois is a mother, and they’re married — that dynamic is completely different than writing teenagers. That was the biggest difference: the type of stories, the type of relationships, and the complexities of being [adults and] working parents,” he said. And, of course, Superman & Lois doesn’t have Product Placement Pete getting super powers from Kryptonite enhanced Stride Gum!
If you’re curious, Helbing’s episode of Smallville is titled “Hero” and aired during the show’s seventh season.

I would be ok with them maybe popping them in one day as long as they didn’t use that as an excuse to wipe them out of existence. Losing DCEU Superman is enough I don’t need to lose Smalllvilles Clark and Lois as well. They already proved they can’t be trusted with what they just had pointed out about Tyler and Bitsies Clark and Lois. Really would love for Tom and Erica to be too busy to ever do it.
Need to continue the Crisis thing to reprise the Lois and Clark of Earth-167.
