More news has come in from this year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego where Superman & Lois showrunners Todd Helbing and Brent Fletcher as well as actors Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch did some press in addition to their panel appearance.
A few months ago, it was revealed that Tom Cavanagh, who played a multitude of Wells on The Flash, would be making an acting appearance in Season 4, and it was assumed that it would be in the series finale. It was confirmed that yes, he’s in the fourth and final season, but his appearance comes “in an episode later in the season.”
“Well, it’s first, it’s not the season finale,” Helbing clarified. “There’s a lot of cameos, more than any other season I would say, this year. But that came out because it’s a character in the comics and it’s like somebody met Tom Cavanagh, went back in time, created this character and then was like, ‘hey, you guys should cast this guy.’ You know, like that. It was the easiest casting of all time.”
“The Tom Cavanagh character is somebody you haven’t seen him play before, and it’s the most Tom Cavanagh character of all time,” Brent Fletcher added. “We’re excited for people to see [him].”
Todd Helbing did confirm that there are a few cameos in Season 4, more than we’ve seen before, and those appearances include Douglas Smith, brother of prolific Superman & Lois director Gregory Smith, as Jimmy Olsen. Bitsie Tulloch added that there is a “surprise cameo” in the finale, for what it’s worth.
The fourth and final season of Superman & Lois premieres with two episodes October 17 on The CW.
