Jordan Elsass and Alexander Garfin have landed the roles of Jonathan and Jordan Kent in The CW’s upcoming series Superman & Lois.
Deadline revealed the news today, describing Elsass’ character of Jonathan as “clean-cut, modest and kind-hearted, with an aw-shucks attitude that somehow doesn’t seem dated.” Jordan who will be played by Garfin is “wildly intelligent, but his mercurial temperament and social anxiety limits his interactions with people, and consequently, Jordan prefers to spend most of his free time alone, playing video games.”
Note these character names and details are consistent with the intel that was posted online yesterday. And yes, we do notice that the shortening of Jordan Elsass’ name would give us Jor-El… clever casting, people. The characters are said to be in their early teens, so ignore the stubble in Elsass’ headshot.
Garfin’s previous credits include playing Linus in The Peanuts Movie; he has also appeared in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Elsass stars in Little Fires Everywhere and the miniseries The Long Road Home.
Superman & Lois has already received a series order from The CW, so beyond a pilot, we know the show will already be on The CW’s schedule in the 2020-2021 TV season, bringing Superman back to the network on a regular basis for the first time since 2011. (His cousin Supergirl, of course, continues on her own series Sundays on The CW).
