Superman & Lois Casts A New Lex Luthor For Season 3

Following weeks of rumors and a tweet from Jon Cryer saying that he was told ahead of time that they were going in a new direction, Superman & Lois has officially cast a new Lex Luthor for Season 3. Michael Cudlitz of The Walking Dead and Southland fame has landed the coveted role. EW.com broke the “exclusive” today with the following character description:

Lex Luthor is known to the world as the visionary billionaire behind LexCorp, but secretly, the criminal underworld knows who Lex truly is: a brutal psychopath who terrorizes anyone he crosses paths with. When Lex debuts this season, it’s been years since he dropped out of the public eye and he’s re-emerging hellbent on correcting a personal injustice by enacting revenge on the two people he feels have wronged him — Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch).

We shall see if he shaves his head or wears a bald cap. Pictured with this article is a shot from The Walking Dead.

Superman & Lois Season 3 premieres March 14 on The CW… and if you’re wondering why Jon Cryer is not just reprising the role, recall that the Season 2 finale revealed we’re on a different Earth… but beyond that, Jon Cryer is soon to start filming a new series. Cryer was excellent on Supergirl but it seems this decision was made on very good terms with the actor and we can’t wait to see what Michael Cudlitz brings to the role.
