Superman & Lois: Bitsie Tulloch on Season 4 Uncertainty & James Gunn

Bitsie Tulloch recently discussed the wait for Superman & Lois Season 4 renewal news and James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film.

The Elizabeth “Bitsie” Tulloch panel at the recent Superman Celebration was full of insights about Superman & Lois and teasers for Season 4 — you can read more of our coverage of the event here. One aspect we did not cover, though, was Tulloch discussing the uncertainty about whether there would be a Season 4 or not — and what she thinks of James Gunn having a new Superman movie in 2025 which will star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

“We did sort of end early,” Tulloch admitted, before heaping praise on the next director to bring Superman to the screen once Superman & Lois has concluded. “I’ve met James Gunn. I adore him. I think he’s really smart. I think he’s a wonderful visionary, and I’m looking forward to seeing his Superman movie, and I’m looking forward to seeing Rachel Brosnahan, who’s going to be the next Lois Lane,” Bitsie said, acknowledging that all of these actors are part of a line, and there will be another Lois Lane after Brosnahan, just like there were Loises before her, and affirming that there’s always been a reverence to previous Lois Lanes in her performance.

Tulloch talked about how at the previous year’s Superman Celebration, Tyler Hoechlin was on stage and very nervous, because at the time, he did not know if the show would be renewed for Season 4 or not. “We couldn’t believe that we didn’t know that late,” she recalled. “My husband and I were in we’re still in Vancouver, just because our daughter was in preschool. and I’m like, ‘I can’t believe they’re telling us this late~ Are we getting renewed or not?’ It started to feel like that might be it, which was a bummer, because you all saw the end of Season 3 with Doomsday, and then it just goes to black, and I was just thinking, ‘my God, if that’s the end of this series, that’s so annoying. More annoying than the Sopranos ending or the LOST ending. It’s just this’!”

Eventually, Bitsie got a call from a producer at Greg Berlanti’s production studio, who assured her that everyone loves the show, and it will be back for a smaller, 10-episode season. “It was exciting being able to finish the show,” she said.

You can watch Tulloch’s comments in the video below (courtesy of the Superman Homepage who posted the video). Superman & Lois Season 4 – the show’s final season – premieres this Fall on The CW.

It went by so fast: The CW has revealed the air date for the series finale of Superman & Lois.

The final episode of the series is scheduled to air Monday, December 2 on The CW. Not only is this the final episode of Superman & Lois, but it is also, for now, the end of the Arrowverse or the Arrowverse-adjacent properties spearheaded by Greg Berlanti and his teams.

Series regulars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Alex Garfin, Michael Bishop, and Michael Cudlitz are all expected to be in the finale; additionally, you can expect most if not all of the departed series regulars to appear in this one… well, all but Adam Rayner as Tal-Rho, who producers confirmed to KryptonSite that he won’t be back this year. It’s the end of an era and you won’t want to miss it.

New Superman & Lois November 4: “When The Lights Come On”

Description for the Superman & Lois episode “When The Lights Come On” airing November 4 on The CW

Last night when a trailer was posted for the next episode of Superman & Lois, there was confusion as to when the next Season 4 installment would be airing, since the uploader (TVPromos on YouTube) had labeled it “A Regular Guy,” which KryptonSite had already revealed to be the November 11 show. Fans were curious if this meant that we would have an interruption on November 4. Fortunately, we can break some good news: Superman & Lois is indeed new November 4 with an episode called “When The Lights Come On.” This places “A Regular Guy” on 11/11, as originally posted.

In “When The Lights Come On” which has a story by Brent Fletcher & Todd Helbing, teleplay by Kristi Korzec, and direction from Ian Samoil, Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) plans to move LuthorCorp to Smallville, but finds opposition in Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui). Sarah (Inde Navarette) faces a difficult decision, and Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) confronts Luthor face-to-face.

LuthorCorp in Smallville? Hey, it’s happened on TV before….

Hopefully we’ll have some photos to share from this one soon.

The CW has not released descriptions for the next few episodes of Superman & Lois in order to keep us from being spoiled; however, we do know that the November 11 episode is called “A Regular Guy.” Tonight after “Break the Cycle,” the network showed a trailer for the next episode of the series, which we assume is airing November 4, in which case we don’t know the title yet. The caption says it’s “A Regular Guy,” but chances are good that it’s actually not going by that title, unless, of course, November 4 is being skipped. Confused? Yeah. So are we. UPDATE: KryptonSite has confirmed that Superman & Lois is indeed new on November 4, with an episode called “When The Lights Come On!” This would also confirm that “A Regular Guy” is indeed set for November 11.

You can see the trailer below, and if you’d like to discuss “Break the Cycle” with other fans, fly on over to our forum!

Season four of SUPERMAN & LOIS picks up right where last season left off: with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Luthor’s monster locked in a ferocious, moon-wrecking battle, as Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) fights for his life against the seemingly unstoppable creature. Back on the ground, General Lane (guest star Dylan Walsh) struggles to stay alive after being kidnapped by Luthor’s henchmen, while Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch), Jordan (Alex Garfin), and Jonathan (Michael Bishop) race against time to rescue him. But standing in their way is Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) himself, who has permanently moved to Smallville as the next step in his malicious plan to destroy Lois Lane. Meanwhile, Lana Lang (guest star Emanuelle Chriqui) uses her position as Mayor to fight back against Luthor’s schemes, a move which puts her in the sights of the most dangerous man in the world and threatens everything she holds dear. This includes her relationship with John Henry Irons (guest star Wolé Parks), who must put his Ironworks plans on hold and rejoin the DOD, now that General Lane is missing. But they aren’t the only duo in trouble, as Chrissy Beppo (guest star Sofia Hasmik) and Kyle Cushing (guest star Eric Valdez) face an uphill battle of their own, with countless roadblocks that threaten to ruin their future together. Amid all the chaos, Sarah Cortez (guest star Inde Navarette) and Natalie Irons (guest star Tayler Buck) also join the fight against Luthor, while both facing impossible decisions about their paths in life. And as Clark’s battle with the terrifying monster continues, Lois, her boys, and the world must face an unthinkable possibility: what if Superman never returns?

SUPERMAN & LOIS stars Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Alex Garfin as Jordan Kent, Michael Bishop as Jonathan Kent, and Michael Cudlitz as Lex Luthor.
