We are now starting to get casting news for the Superman: Legacy film which is coming in 2025 from producer/director/DC Guru James Gunn.

Multiple trades are reporting that David Corenswet, long a fan favorite to be cast in the role, has landed the coveted part of Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman. Playing Lois Lane opposite him is The Marvelous Ms. Maisel’s Rachel Brosnahan. And yes, Corenswet truly does look like what would happen if you mixed Henry Cavill and Tom Welling into a blender, doesn’t he?

“I completely relate to Superman because he’s everything I am,” James Gunn said in a THR interview. “He’s somebody who is an outsider who feels like an alien, but also the ultimate insider, because he’s fucking Superman. And that’s kind of like what I feel like.”

Corenswet himself had said in an Entertainment Weekly interview that playing Superman would be a “pie-in-the-sky ambition.” Well, guess what? It’s happening.

Look for Superman: Legacy in 2025.

The New Superman Movie Shoots A Super Cameo

Someone with extensive Superman ties has apparently filmed a cameo for James Gunn’s new film.

Filming is underway on the new Superman film from James Gunn in Cleveland, Ohio — if you’ve been following @KryptonSite on Twitter/X, you’ve likely seen a lot of photos from the shooting — and today, news broke that someone quite super has apparently visited the set and filmed a cameo.

Will Reeve is a correspondent for Good Morning America but his biggest relevance to Superman fans is that he is the 32-year-old son of the late Christopher and Dana Reeve. Christopher Reeve, of course, is the iconic actor who starred as Clark Kent and Superman in four films. From set photos, it appears that he filmed a cameo as a reporter in the movie.. a reporter in a Superman project… just like his Super dad.

Christopher Reeve died in October 2004. In 1995, he had a tragic horseback riding accident that resulted in paralysis. Despite these challenges, Reeve powered ahead and had hope — a lesson we could all learn from Superman. You can see some photo evidence of Will’s visit below. And of course, now we are going to wonder what other cameos we have to look forward to in the film. The Reeve franchise’s Jimmy Olsen, Marc McClure, is still with us, after all, as is Gene Hackman (Lex Luthor) though he is retired from acting. James Gunn also happens to be friends with history’s most beloved Lex Luthor actor (Michael Rosenbaum) so really, anything is possible!

James Gunn’s Superman Casts Cat Grant & Ron Troupe

James Gunn’s new Superman film has found its Cat Grant and Ron Troupe

The cast of James Gunn’s 2025 Superman film has grown with a few cool cats from the Daily Planet troupe.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the casting of Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe. Do note that the Christopher McDonald in question is a newcomer and not the white actor named Christopher McDonald you are thinking of. You can see a picture of him to your right.

Most people who read this site already know a lot about Cat Grant, whether it’s Calista Flockhart’s pitch-perfect performance as the gossip columnist on Supergirl, Tracy Scoggins’ sultry Cat on Lois & Clark, or even Keri Lynn Pratt’s incredibly annoying Smallville version. Cat Grant is also a fun part of the recent My Adventures with Superman cartoon. She first appeared in Adventures of Superman comics by Marv Wolfman and Jerry Ordway. Mikaela Hoover has been seen in James Gunn’s productions before, with small roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad.

Ron Troupe is most famous in the comics for being married to Lucy Lane for a time. He’s mostly been seen in animation though we’ve seen him in a few minor live action spots. He, too, was co-created by Jerry Ordway with artist Tom Grummett.

This casting news comes days after SNL’s Beck Bennett was announced as playing sports guy Steve Lombard. Superman is currently filming, set to fly in theaters July 11, 2025.

The first official picture of David Corenswet in costume as Superman is finally here.

Director James Gunn’s new Superman movie itself might not be out until July of 2025, but fans today got their first look at Corenswet wearing the costume after an “S” reveal happened a few months back. The “S” is inspired by the design from Alex Ross in the Kingdom Come comic book series, and the suit itself looks to be less colorful than expected, but still very solid. And… are those underpants on the outside that we see? We can’t wait to see this in action!

Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and more. It is expected to release to theaters July 11, 2025.
