One of the most popular “alternate looks” for Superman in the comics was the black costume that he wore when he came back from the dead in the “Reign of the Supermen” comic book storyline. That look was later adapted into action figures and even has been seen in a variation on the Lois & Clark Season 4 premiere, and it was at least part of Zack Snyder’s cut for Justice League, and a variation was also seen in the Superman: Lois and Clark series that preceded DC’s Rebirth.
Today, Arrow’s Stephen Amell tweeted a photo from the Arrowverse crossover filming which is currently going on, and while both Stephen Amell and The Flash’s Grant Gustin are dressed more casually, Tyler Hoechlin is wearing a Super-suit… now in black.
(Guess it was easier to re-dye Mon-El’s costume to black? We’re kidding. Maybe.)
In any event, the three-show crossover, which introduces Lois Lane and Batwoman, among others, to the Arrowverse, airs December i through 11 on The CW.

I see Grant and Stephen are wearing the same boots and similar (if not the same) dark pants. With Tyler in full outfit, the matching boots would seem to have some significance.... although I don't know what.
Blackest Night (Black Lantern)? If I remember correctly, most of the heroes from that storyline ended up wearing all-black suits or just darker variations of the ones they had worn.
Looks absolutely super ! I wonder if Tyler could be playing an alternate Superman from an Earth other than Earth-38 in the crossover at some point! The title being “Elseworlds” certainly makes that seem likely! Even though Grant and Stephen aren’t in costume, just seeing them standing with Superman is making me geek out so much ! I can only imagine it’ll be even more super when we see them actually in costume with him!
