Supergirl Stays On Mondays; Calista Flockhart’s Return Being Negotiated

The CW has decided to keep Supergirl on Mondays at 8 when it returns for Season 2 on a new network this Fall. This will probably put the show in the line of fire of The Big Bang Theory, though on the brighter side, it also will boost The CW’s Monday night fortunes. You can find The CW’s 2016-2017 schedule and press release here.

On a press call, CW President Mark Pedowitz was asked how or if the tone of the series will change for Season 2. “We are sitting down with Greg Berlanti and his team next week or so,” Pedowitz said. “We have a rough idea where they’re heading and, because our working relationship with Greg, we’re confident they understand what our needs are. As for the tone or tonality of the series, they did have a pretty successful series. The fact it’s now moved to The CW, where it should have been in the first place, I don’t think it will have a big impact on the tone,” he said, with “where it should have been in the first place” being a highlight for many who were listening.

“[The move] is a good thing for The CW. Our parent companies recognized this was the right place for it, and were deeply supportive across the board,” he continued.

And now for the bad news: It doesn’t sound like negotiations are finished with bringing Calista Flockhart in for Season 2, though it does sound like she’s wanted to continue for more, which could turn the “bad news” into good. However, no decision has been made yet. “We’re in ongoing discussions,” Pedowitz said on the call. “We’re thrilled that she wants to continue with the show and we’re happy to have her in in whatever capacity.”

  • I really hope Callista continues. TV needs women of her age represented, even if she does look 20 years younger.

    • There are far better actresses than Flockhart. She has consistently been a detriment to my ability to enjoy that show.

    • With all her lifting and botox fillers everyone can look just as younger lol. no offense but it's a known fact she got works done. That being said, if we lost Cat we'd be losing the whole CatCo part of the show. I think Callista should just move to Canada like the other actors. In her old contract she asked to film just in LA.

  • I dont think Callista will come back if the money is not right. People have to remember she is also a full time Mom. Moving to Vancouver to shoot Supergirl for 7 months means she has to take her kid out of school and enroll them in Vancouver.

  • She's a has been (calista) and it doesn't matter her age or gender. She hasn't been able to pull off a covincing performance since alley mcbiel. Cat Grant needs to be less devil wears Prada and more Murphy Brown.

  • I don't think TBBT will stay on Monday nights, only for the first few weeks like it did last year, and then they are bringing in some new comedies on 10/24/16....so for the most part Supergirl will be up against 2 new comedies, and of course the same 3 that it was up against last year, DWTS, The Voice and Gotham.
