As always in today’s production environment, things could change, but Vancouver production charts are now listing production dates for Supergirl Season 6 — and it appears that it’s a little shorter than usual.
This is not surprising, between the pandemic but also Melissa Benoist being a new mother by that time. Additionally, Supergirl Season 6 is currently slated for midseason, which usually means we get a shorter season anyway.
Right now, it’s looking like Supergirl Season 6 will begin filming September 28 with the season premiere directed by Jesse Warn and it will be done April 5. As a comparison, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow — which has never had a 22-episode season – is scheduled to shoot October 5 through May 10.
As always, things could change. No one knows what COVID will do to production schedules, but also, it could be possible The CW will want more episodes in which case plans would be altered. The CW, having renewed almost every show, has a pretty packed schedule that will also include the new Superman & Lois TV series. Right now, though, our guess is that we’ll be looking at a sixth season of around 13-16 episodes.
