While the timing for a “Chloe Sullivan” reference right now might not be the best for viewers who might Google that name this week, Supergirl finally went there in tonight’s episode “Midvale” with a reference to Clark Kent’s best friend, confidante, journalist and computer genius from the TV series Smallville.
In the Supergirl storyline, some files are encrypted and Kara suggests that “Clark’s friend Chloe” can help as she’s good with computers and has her own “Wall of Weird.”
Chloe was played by Allison Mack in all ten seasons of Smallville, appearing in almost all of the series’ 218 episodes. (She missed a good chunk of Season 10 as she went part time for the final year.) The character was a fan favorite that even inspired the “Chloe Chronicles” spin-off. She was an original character created by Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar for the show and was eventually revealed as the cousin of Lois Lane.
So, Supergirl writers: Now we’re actually going to see Chloe soon, right? Always holding on…
