The role has not yet been filled; casting will begin soon.
“We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain, Lex Luthor, to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season,” Executive Producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner said in a statement released by The CW. “We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since it’s inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe to toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister Lena Luthor.”
The CW notes that Lex Luthor will not be part of the 3-show crossover that airs in December.
Supergirl airs Sundays at 8PM ET/PT on The CW.

SUPER exciting ! Lex isn’t ONE of the greatest fictional criminal minds — he is THE greatest fictional criminal mind! Lex is my all-time favorite villain ! Can’t wait to see who gets cast in the role and then to see him on Supergirl! I hope it’s someone who brings a similarly cold, calculating take on the character to what Michael Rosenbaum gave us ! I know he’s said in the past he wouldn’t do it, but I’ll reiterate that Tom Welling would be my fancast! Based on what he did as Clark Luthor on Smallville, I think he’d be super! Plus, just what a fun twist that would be! I’d also love if Lex wears the Lexosuit on the show, as we’ve seen it twice now on Supergirl, but we’ve never seen Lex wear it in live-action before! The casting of Lex also makes me think it’s even MORE likely that Metropolis is being redeveloped into a Superman show starring Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, and now whoever gets cast as Lex!
