Supergirl EP Talks Lex Luthor

This morning, The CW hosted a preview of this Sunday’s new episode of Supergirl, titled “Fallout,” and following that screening was a Q&A where Executive Producer Robert Rovner was asked about the recent announcement that Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luthor will be appearing on the show later this season.

Not a lot of details were made available, but Rovner indicated that the producers are excited to use the character. “We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to use him this season, and he weaves into the big Lena story that we’re telling this season, so I think it’s a good opportunity to have him, and we would welcome him any time,” Rovner said, declining to talk about the kind of actor they are looking for.

“We’re just excited about the possibilities of who might step into that iconic role,” he added.

The announcement that Lex is coming is soon after the series has introduced Lex’s right-hand woman from various media, Mercy Graves, played on Supergirl by Rhona Mitra. Even with that connection, though, Mercy’s story is more tied to someone else.

“I think what’s great about Mercy is not necessarily her relationship with Lex, but her relationship with Lena, and how they had a complicated relationship in the past that becomes even more complicated now,” he teased.

Supergirl airs Sundays at 8PM on The CW. Take a look at some photos from the next new episode below!
