[SPOILER] Previews Their Superman & Lois Return

Superman & Lois sees a familiar face returning in tonight’s episode as Adam Rayner returns as Tal-Rho, and KryptonSite’s Craig Byrne spoke with Mr. Rayner about his big return — starting with the comeback itself: Did he expect to be coming back to Superman & Lois so soon after the end of Season 1, when it seemed Tal-Rho would be locked away for a while?

“Definitely not so soon,” Rayner says. “There were rumors buzzing around that it might not be absolutely it for him, but I had to go away and serve a period of shameful banishment before appearing again. I was surprised and obviously thrilled to get the call to come back.”

“I think the internal conflict for both of them, as opposed to the outward conflict that they often find themselves in,” Rayner continues. “They are brothers. Tal speaks a lot about family, and has a yearning for family – he means the Kryptonian family, but nonetheless, he wants to have that relationship with with Kal on his own terms. He has a need to dominate, and be the big brother – the alpha brother – but he needs him, nonetheless.”

“Of course, it’s frustrating for Tal that Kal can’t just be his Kryptonian brother and follow that simple path towards dominating these idiot humans, but of course, that’s never going to happen. And yet, they don’t seem to be able to totally turn their backs on each other. So there’s a strange repulsion, but they’re stuck together. It’s very interesting to play.”

Why is Tal-Rho back already? Will we ever see him as “Morgan Edge” again? Will he ever be accepted as another member of the extended family? Several of these answers can be found in tonight’s new episode of Superman & Lois airing at 8PM ET/PT on The CW. You can see photos from the episode “The Ties That Bind” here.
