Just about a year after being charged for her role in the NXIVM “sex cult” fronted by Keith Raniere, Smallville actress Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan) has plead guilty for the part that she played, according to a report at Vulture.
“I have come to the conclusion that I must take full responsibility for my conduct and that’s why I am pleading guilty today,” Allison said, admitting to two federal counts: one count of racketeering conspiracy, and one count of racketeering.
Allison claimed that she was drawn to NXIVM because “many of the members were wonderful people and some of whom, I now realize, were not.”
“I joined NXIVM … to find purpose. I truly believed I found a group of individuals who believed as I did. I believed Keith Raniere’s intentions were to help people,” she continued. “I was wrong.”
Allison is accused of being a “master” directly under leader Keith Raniere, and that she recruited “slaves” to engage in sexual acts with Raniere. There was also a very graphic element that involved the branding of Raniere’s initials and her own on the bodies of women.
“I’m very sorry for the victims of this case,” Allision said. “I’m very sorry for who I’ve hurt through my misguided adherence to Keith Raniere’s teachings.”
“I know that I am and will be a better person because of this,” she promised.
We will keep you updated on this case if and when there are more updates; you can read the Vulture report here. E! Online notes that if convicted, Allison could face 20 years of prison for each count she is charged with. Allison’s sentencing is set for September 11.
