As if doing a variation of Smallville’s Davis Bloome in Supergirl Season 3 wasn’t enough… now the actor who played Davis is coming to Supergirl as another character made famous by legendary Superman comics artist Dan Jurgens!
Sam Witwer, whose credits also include Being Human and the Star Wars universe, will be playing Agent Liberty in Season 4… and he’ll be a series regular! Here’s how Warner Bros. describes the character, who sounds like a much darker take than what we saw in the comics:
Based on the DC character, AGENT LIBERTY is the founder and figurehead of the Children of Liberty – a hate group that supports a human-first world order. Ruthless and terrifying, the scariest thing about Agent Liberty might be just how easily he can convince you that he’s in the right. He’s a brilliant orator in the guise of a family man.
In the comics, Agent Liberty had the alter ego of Benjamin Lockwood, and was part of a group called the Sons of Liberty. However, when he was called on to assassinate Pete Ross, he refused, leaving the Sons to go solo.
UPDATE: We are hearing that Agent Liberty’s alter ego is indeed “Ben” on Supergirl.
We can surely expect to learn more about Agent Liberty this weekend at the Comic-Con International in San Diego!
