Six more actors have joined Syfy’s Krypton prequel pilot, according to Deadline.
Game of Thrones’ Ian McElhinney has been cast as Val-El, grandfather of Seg-El, described as “a rogue genius who believes that space exploration is a basic form of self-defense.” He has tried, without success, to warn the Kryptonian elite about the arrival of an ancient threat.
Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons) is Daron Vex, the Chief Magistrate of Kandor. His real business is defending Krypton’s established oligarchy against heretics and dissidents.
Ann Ogbomo (World War Z) will be Primus Alura Zod, described as Lyta Zod’s mother and a leader of Krypton’s military guild. She is an extremely tough and demanding training officer.
Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness) plays the rankless Kem, described as “a brilliant engineer as well as Seg-El’s best friend and partner in an underground tech-repair business.”
The Royals’ Wallis Day will play Nyssa Vex, a junior magistrate and the daughter of Daron Vex.
Finally, Tennison’s Aaron Pierre is Dev-Em, a cadet under the command of Primus Alura Zod.
Krypton comes from Executive Producers David S. Goyer and Damian Kindler; Colm McCarthy is the co-executive producer and director of the pilot, from a story and teleplay by Goyer & Ian Goldberg. Krypton is shooting soon for a spot on the Syfy channel; you can read more about the project here.
