In recent years, there has been a trend on YouTube to create TV opening credits in the style of a classic series, especially since not a lot of shows employ opening titles these days. From 2001 to 2011, the iconic “Save Me” by Remy Zero opened Smallville every week, and now that there’s a new Superman series in Superman & Lois, “TheSecretSlayers” on YouTube have created Superman & Lois opening titles in the style of Smallville.
These titles are very cool, with a few nitpicks: While it might be impossible to include something like ten series regulars in the opening, it still is a bit odd to be missing Emmanuelle Chriqui, Erik Valdez, Adam Rayner, and Wolé Parks. The makers of this video seemed aware of this, as noted in the YouTube description, and again, this would be a challenge to include everyone. Additionally, while the font matches the “Agency FB” typeface used in early seasons of the show (and an early KryptonSite logo!), this version of the Smallville credits actually used something different. To be fair, we don’t know the name of the later font, either.
Still, the editing abilities to put this together so fast and pick clips that worked so well should be commended. You can see these Superman & Lois opening titles by TheSecretSlayers below.
