Revealed: Who’s Leaving Superman & Lois in Season 4?

Rumblings have been circulating on social media for the past day, and this evening, Deadline confirmed the news that a majority of the Superman & Lois cast has been Bob Hearts Abishola-ed… meaning, only a small amount of the cast is being retained at series regular status for Season 4.

Budget cuts surely have a lot to do with this, what with the now Nextstar-owned CW wanting to cut what they are paying per episode; surely, actor contracts and timing – especially as we don’t know when the current WGA strike will end — factored in as well. It is said that Season 4 will focus more on the family.

On the bright side? Michael Cudlitz will be sticking around as Lex Luthor. And now for the bad news – here is who is said to be leaving the show, or at the very least, having a more limited presence as they will no longer be series regulars:

Emmanuelle Chriqui (Lana Lang)
Erik Valdez (Kyle Cushing)
Inde Navarrette (Sarah Cortez)
Wolé Parks (John Henry Irons)
Tayler Buck (Natalie Irons)
Dylan Walsh (Sam Lane)
Sofia Hasmik (Chrissy Beppo)

The hope is that some of these people will still appear on the show on a recurring/guest star basis pending actor availability and interest. However, on social media it appears that the wife of Dylan Walsh is telling people that General Lane will not be back due to the pay offered.

Superman & Lois Season 4 will likely premiere on The CW in 2024 and each and every one of these people were talented additions to the ensemble who will be missed. It’s also not the greatest look for the show that all of the remaining cast members who have been kept as series regulars are Caucasian, and so, the diversity of the show will definitely be taking a hit.

  • Lana Lang and the Irons I can see being recurring because they’re involved in Superman’s later life.

  • With this much of the cast being cut, along with the episode count being dropped to just 10, I really wish Max had picked up the 4th season instead of The CW. The show won’t be the same now without the ensemble. It’s bad enough The CW has already canceled so many shows that I watched on their network. Now they’ve maimed the last one. It’s so sad how far they’ve fallen.
