Photo: See Mehcad Brooks (James) as The Guardian!

Following yesterday’s news that Mehcad Brooks’ character of James Olsen will be “suiting up” as the Guardian, The CW and Warner Bros. Television have released the first official photo of him in costume. as you can see, it’s a little bit less golden than the comic book version, almost more resembling Steel, but the shield certainly looks right.

Here’s how the studio describes what is happening:

James Olsen takes on the mantle of the classic DC Comics hero, Guardian. With his trademark shield intact, James will fight to protect National City alongside Supergirl.

The Guardian is one of Jack Kirby’s most enduring creations, from the times of the Newsboy Legion in the 1940s through to his run on Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen comics.
