With a veritable legion of Supermen in this year’s DC TV crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths airing on The CW later this year, many are wondering when Dean Cain, who played Superman on Lois & Clark for several years, would be joining the fun.
Is there any news?
“At this point in time, I have no news,” Dean Cain told Entertainment Tonight at a recent event.
“I am already on [Supergirl] as Supergirl’s father, so hard to say how that would work out, but listen, I love being part of the genre and I embrace it and if something worked out that would be fine, you never know,” he continued.
Dean is certainly down for playing Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman, the role that he played from 1993-1997 on the ABC series, and has even proposed a revival of the series, to pick up on some of the things that were left unresolved in the series finale. (So unresolved that some of the architects of this very website did our own “Unaired Fifth Season” after the show finished!)
“I would love to see that happen because I think we ended on the weirdest note ever and so we’ve talked about it and I would love to see what they are doing 25 years later, and I’d love to see that situation,” he said. “I’ve already started writing little bits and pieces down, so we’ll see if I can convince someone to make six, 10, 12 episodes.” Dean also revealed that Teri Hatcher agrees it would be “a great idea,” but in a true Lois & Clark fashion, they don’t totally agree on what should be happening in a revival if there should be one.
