Merlin’s Katie McGrath Is Lex Luthor’s Sister!

Cool new casting news coming from TV Line today — Katie McGrath, “Morgana” from Merlin fame, has ben cast as Lex Luthor’s sister Lena Luthor!

Here’s how TV Line describes her role:

Beautiful, powerful, and enigmatic, Lena arrives in National City on the heels of brother Lex’s incarceration hoping for a fresh start. Lena has taken over as CEO of her family’s billion-dollar-tech company, Luthor Corp, which has been tarnished by Lex’s evil infamy. Her goal? To re-brand the empire as a force for good. Lena wants to be seen as her own person, separate from her brother. Kara is drawn into Lena’s sphere and must determine if she is friend or foe.

Lex Luthor had a sister, Tess, in The CW’s Smallville series, as played by Cassidy Freeman. This role will be a recurring one in Supergirl’s second season which premieres October 10.

You can read the original TV Line report here. And if you haven’t seen Merlin before, especially the early seasons, Katie is fantastic so you should find a way to check those episodes out!

  • She was awesome on Merlin. I also did like her character in Jurassic World even though it was a really small part.

    • I was so happy to see her in Jurassic World. That had totally skipped my mind when writing about her just because I loved her so much as Morgana.

  • Lena Luthor actually preddates Tess from "Smallville" by decades. She was first introduced in the comics.
