WARNING: Spoilers for tonight’s episode of Syfy’s Krypton, “The House of Zod,” are being discussed within. If you have not watched yet, DO NOT READ THIS ARTICLE!
In the concluding moments of tonight’s Krypton airing on April 18, Lyta-Zod (Georgina Campbell) comes face-to-face with the mysterious man from Black Zero that is played by Colin Salmon.
They have a scuffle, and then it is revealed…. they both have mothers named Martha.
Kidding.
But what this other man does have is a family necklace, which was given to him by his mother… whom he identifies as Lyta-Zod.
Is this the General Zod? From the future?
Sadly, when we attempted to get an answer from EP Cameron Welsh, all we could get as a response was that we will have to tune in next week to find out the answer…. so, there you go: “Civil Wars.” April 25 on Syfy.
UPDATE: While Welsh wasn’t as forthcoming when we asked, he did go into detail to ComicBook on a recent set visit.
“Part of why we kept Zod under wraps, and why it wasn’t mentioned at Comic-Con, amongst the other things, because it is such a big season-changing twist for us,” Welsh told them. “It’s that midseason point where the whole first season gets turned on its head 180 degrees. Adam [Strange] comes to Krypton with a very specific message to Seg: Superman’s birth, his very existence, is under threat and we have to stop Braniac. Brainiac is coming back in time to change history. But we all know that Brainiac was always coming to take Kandor City. And that’s what Adam got wrong; Zod was coming back to change history. So that’s the big turn in the season.”
And before anyone asks “wouldn’t the Zod we know be the grandson of Lyta?”
Not necessarily; most likely not. After all, in most Superman lore Zod is of the same generation as Jor-El, Seg’s presumed son and the father of Kal-El.
