The show premieres March 21 on Syfy, and here’s what we know so far!
– Syfy’s current description for the show: What if Superman never existed? Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, “Krypton” follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather, who is faced with a life and death conflict – save his home planet or let it be destroyed in order to restore the fate of his future grandson. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray and the House of El ostracized, Seg finds himself in a difficult position. He must redeem his family’s honor and protect the ones he loves while being challenged by familiar DC characters Brainiac (Blake Ritson) and Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos).
– Despite previous comments by executive producer David Goyer, Krypton will not be tied to the DC Extended Universe of movies. A lot of the imagery from the first leaked Krypton trailer that looked like the movies has been reshot or redone.
– We will meet Seg-El’s grandfather Val-El (he’s the one who himself is seen with a blue uniform and a red cape in the trailers.)
– Seg-El’s parents will also be seen.
– The outcasts on Krypton are known as the “Rankless.”
– It was announced that we will be seeing Doomsday and Hawkwoman in the first season, though there has been no news of Hawkwoman casting.
– Blake Ritson has been cast as Brainiac, the “collector of worlds.”
– The Phantom Zone will be seen on the show.
– Hannah Waddingham (Game of Thrones) will recur as a female version of Jax-Ur who will introduce the terrorist organization Black Zero from the comics.
– Arrow’s Colin Salmon (Walter Steele) will guest star as an as-yet-unrevealed character. No, he is not playing Walter!
– It is possible we will see Krypton explore other planets, species and more from the world of DC Comics.
– Be ready to potentially see Kryptonian versions of Nightwing and Flamebird! In the Pre-Crisis comics, those were alter egos that Superman and Jimmy Olsen took on when in the bottle city of Kandor.
– It has been hinted that the DC Comics team The Omega Men could be seen on the show.
– Speaking of Kandor, Kandor City does factor in to this show.
– The villainous Black Mercy, which we saw in Supergirl Season 1, will appear. Disclaimer: No, Krypton won’t be tied to Supergirl or the Arrowverse.
