It was first rumored weeks ago by the Bleeding Cool website, and now, it has been officialy confirmed that a TV series set on the planet Krypton is in development from executive producer David S. Goyer and writer Ian Goldberg (Once Upon A Time).
Yes, a Superman prequel series the same year a Supergirl series is in development. Here’s the logo that came with the Warner Bros. press release about the project:
Here’s what the press release had to say:
Syfy and Warner Horizon Television announced today they are developing a one-hour drama series project Krypton, which will reveal a chapter of the DC Comics universe that has rarely been told.
Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows The Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.
Krypton is being executive produced by David S. Goyer (Constantine, Da Vinci’s Demons, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight trilogy, upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) and Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time, FlashForward) for Warner Horizon Television.
Yes, instead of picking up Booster Gold, Syfy is instead developing a show about Superman’s Grandpa. Goyer does get points for Constantine, but realistically, isn’t Krypton usually the most boring part of the Superman story? Will Krypton of Thrones cut it?
We shall see…
