Krypton Nearing A Pilot Order At Syfy

Is the TV world big enough for two Super-series?

While we still wait for updates on Supergirl Season 2, news comes via several outlets including Variety that Syfy is close to making a deal to order a pilot for the long-in-gestation Krypton series from David Goyer (Man of Steel, Constantine). This is the first real news about the project since it was first reported on in 2014.

Variety describes the project this way:

The series, set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s titular home planet, would tell the story of the man of steel’s grandfather as he fights to restore the family honor of the House of El after it has been shamed.

The pilot comes from Warner Horizon Television with Colm McCarthy set to direct the pilot. Ian Goldberg wrote the pilot with Goyer, though Deadline notes that rewrites are coming from Damian Kindler, who will be executive producing and showrunning the project.
