At a time when it seems the world of Super-things has been rocked by stories of men in high powered positions using their status to harass or abuse, Kristin Kreuk (Smallville’s Lana Lang) has become an Executive Producer on a true-life film story about the journey of an incredible woman and the adversity and challenges that she faced.
With that said, though – she needs your help, as there is a Kickstarter happening right now that needs to get funding for the production.
“For me, her story really does reflect an issue that exists systemically globally,” Kristin said on a video on the film’s Kickstarter page. “It is a more intense and violent story, but it is similar to what goes on in systems of power in North America where you have men, generally, in high powered positions who can harass or abuse those women that are under them and get away with it. I think that we are in a place where we are changing that, but Phoolan’s story is so important to help empower other women to do the same; to show them that there are ways in which we can come together and change this, systemically, from the root up, and live in a world where it doesn’t happen anymore.”
