Executive
Producer Alfred Gough Talks About Margot Kidder's Visit To Smallville
Margot
Kidder, who played Lois Lane in the four Superman movies,
will be playing Bridgette Crosby, emissary to Dr. Virgil Swann,
in at least two episodes of Smallville, the WB has announced.
Her first episode will be the fourth season premiere, "Crusade,"
and then the character will return again in the sixth episode,
"Transference."
KryptonSite
has been able to receive a quote from Smallville Executive
Producer Alfred Gough about Kidder's casting, where he reveals
a little bit about the character Margot will be playing...
"We
had this role in the season opener. Initially, we were quite
frankly hoping to get Christopher Reeve, and then due to scheduling
issues [he was unavailable] ... We started looking around for
an emissary to Dr. Swann because it's a pretty important piece
of information in the season opener that's given to Martha to
help get Clark back . And we wanted it to come from Dr. Swann,
who is the only person she could think to to turn for help since
[Martha's] sort of the last of the Last of the Mohicans in the
season opener. Everybody else is down for the count. Dead, gone,
in a void, poisoned. We started looking again to the movies
to see who potentially could play this character, and Margot
was kind of our first choice, and ... she was more than happy
to revisit the whole Superman legend again. She plays Bridgette
Crosby, who is also a character from the comics, who I think
in the future, [is] with STAR Labs."
And
will Ms. Crosby be interacting with the Dr. Swann character
on the show?
"Doubtful.
Though we allude in this first scene that at one point, she
and Dr. Swann did have a romantic relationship. Just again,
that's sort of our wink to the old movies."
