DC Comics icon Lois Lane will be appearing in the DC TV/Arrowverse crossover which starts on Sunday, December 9 with The Flash. Things will move on to on Arrow on December 10 and Supergirl on December 11, and the CW crossover will also introduce Ruby Rose’s Batwoman to the mythos.
We knew Tyler Hoechlin would be returning as Superman, but now we know who his Lois Lane will be: Warner Bros. and The CW announced today that the role of Lois Lane will be filled by Elizabeth Tulloch of Grimm fame!
In addition to Grimm, Tulloch’s feature credits include Concussion with Will Smith and Alec Baldwin as well as Parkland with Paul Giamatti, Billy Bob Thornton, and a former Superman himself, Tom Welling. (Really! See a picture of them at the movie’s premiere, to your left.)
Tulloch is the fifth actress to play Lois Lane in live action on television. Phyllis Coates and Noel Neill played the role on The Adventures of Superman and Teri Hatcher played the iconic reporter on Lois & Clark. In more recent years, Erica Durance played TV’s longest-running Lois from 2004 to 2011 on Smallville; now, Erica appears on Supergirl as Kara Danvers’ Kryptonian mother, Alura.
Do note that Supergirl and The Flash will be switching time slots for just that week. The new season of Supergirl premieres Sunday, October 14 as The CW expands to six nights! As for Tulloch’s Lois Lane and Hoechlin’s Superman — dare we hope for a spinoff someday? Or maybe Tulloch can play Lois Lane in a Metropolis show since the last one was currently left on hold? We’ll see how everything turns out!
