Jeremy Jordan and Odette Annable aren’t the only two actors who won’t be series regulars anymore when Supergirl returns for Season 4 in the Fall.
TV Line has confirmed that Christopher Wood (Mon-El) is indeed going back to the future and that having Chris as a part of the cast was always a two-year plan. “We’ve loved telling Mon-El’s story, as well as the story we’ve told for him and Kara. We hope the fans felt that it was a satisfying conclusion.” Executive Producer Robert Rovner said in an interview at that site.
“They both have destinies in different times as heroes. What they did was the sort-of Casablanca decision of putting what’s most important to them — which is saving the world — first. It’s a little bittersweet that one destiny is to be a hero in this time and one’s destiny is to run the Legion in another time, but I think they grew a lot from knowing one another. They have respect for one another, and they have a respect for the decisions they respectively made,” Jessica Queller added.
Is this the end for Chris Wood on Supergirl, though? “We love working with Chris, so we’d love to have Mon-El back someday if the story takes us there and if Chris is available,” Rovner said. In other words, perhaps there’s hope for “Karamel endgame” just yet? In any event, Chris Wood will surely be missed by many fans, and knowing his work from Supergirl as well as Containment and The Vampire Diaries, he’d be a great leading man for a TV series should anyone choose to cast him.
