Justin Hartley is creeping up on folks such as Adrianne Palicki and Chris Evans in the “how many different superheroes can he play?” game.
While Justin’s first superhero role to be seen on screen was as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow on Smallville, a few months earlier he had filmed an Aquaman TV pilot from Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. That set the tally at two. Now, THR reveals today that Justin will be voicing Superman in an animated movie based on the Injustice: Gods Among Us comics and video games.
As noted by THR, Injustice takes place in on an alternate Earth in which the Joker has tricked Superman into killing Lois Lane, sending the hero on a rampage. This unnhinged Superman decides to take control of Earth for its own good, leading Batman and his allies to attempt to stop him.
The animated film is due out this Fall, and another Smallville alum – Anson Mount who guest starred in “Precipice” and himself has played a comic book icon before as “Black Bolt” in the terrible Marvel Inhumans show for ABC – will be Batman. Faran Tahir, a guest in the Supergirl TV pilot, will be Ra’s al Ghul, and other notable voice cast inclusions include Laura Bailey as Lois Lane and “Steven Universe” himself, Zach Callison, as both Jimmy Olsen and Damian Wayne. The movie even has a Green Arrow, and it’s not Hartley or Stephen Amell — he’s voiced by Reid Scott.
