The Alex Ross design for an older Superman in the DC Comics miniseries Kingdom Come is one of the all-time classics, and now, in addition to the photo that was released by The CW this morning, Brandon Routh has released this on his Instagram: A picture with all of the mood and coloring of that classic series.
Brandon is playing the role of the Man of Steel for the first time since Superman Returns in this year’s Arrowverse crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths…. apparently producers wanted to find something that would top the excitement that we had last year seeing John Wesley Shipp’s Flash again, and they certainly succeeded.
In the Instagram post, Brandon credited Victoria Auth for leading the charge & design, Rory (not Mick) and his team at Hargate Costumea and Jose with his team at Ironhead Studio for building the suit, Mauricio at the Western Costume Company for the boots, Red Head Tattoos for the hair, Amanda McGowan and Tia Martin for makeup, Alex Ross for the artistic inspiration, and Marc Guggenheim “for being crazy enough to pull this all together.”
Crisis on Infinite Earths airs in December and January on The CW, going through their series Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman… and you can see the new photo below.

He should be in the Stargirl series since they're using JSA.
