Good news and bad news from a column at The Hollywood Reporter today about the chances for certain pilots on getting picked up to series.
The good news? THR says that CBS chairman Nina Tassler likes Supergirl.
The bad news? A “summer run” could be on the table, which might mean we’d have to wait until 2016 to see the Maid of Might on our television screens. Here’s what they said:
After early rumors that the DC Comics take from Ali Adler and Arrow/Flash masterminds Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg was being shopped to The CW, the tide changed after CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler saw the final cut and loved it. The Melissa Benoist starrer was always considered too expensive to move to the younger-skewing network and a pickup could present a larger question for CBS: where to schedule it. Some sources suggested a summer run could be on the table where it could be paired with sci-fi fare like Under the Dome, Extant and Zoo. A summer run could also give the network an edge in the increasingly crowded comic book space, with only AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead expected to set up shop there.
A summer run for Supergirl isn’t the worst idea in the world – it would stand out amongst the comic book show clutter, and it’d really get a chance to shine – but to have to wait another 13 months or so for us to actually see it would be depressing. It is likely far too late to have Supergirl ready for a Summer 2015 run, so we’re assuming they’d be talking about next year…. but then again, the other shows mentioned – Under The Dome, Extant and Zoo – are all shows planned for this summer. Hmm. Maybe this isn’t a bad thing!
Now, keep in mind this is only speculation. You can read the entire THR column here, which is a very well-written look at many pilots that are floating around at the moment. CBS will announce their Fall 2015 schedule in less than two weeks, on May 13.

Hello! Nice article, but i wouldnt think Supergirl will airing in summer. Why? I try to explain: I think you guys here know there was shoot only the Pilot episode, and i dont think the Post-Production of every episode can finish if they shoot more episodes until summer. You know what i try to saying, right?
That's why I said it is likely to not air this summer. I guess they could get a few more episodes prepared for late summer, but I do agree it is most likely way too late for that.
Summer 2016 will be a sucky wait though :(
We know from the tone of the comments from people involved that they've been operating as if there's absolutely no uncertainty regarding the show's status, so I don't think it's out of the question for the show to air this summer, especially since they already have the production infrastructure in place
Summer shows almost always fail... if they put it on as a summer show, that will kill any chance this show has to succeed. The network would be just trying to get out of paying the cancelation fees from not picking up a series that had already been given a full season commitment.
Summer shows are always forgotten.
