After what seems like an eternity, The CW has finally announced a premiere date for Superman & Lois Season 4!

The fourth and sadly final season will premiere on Thursday, October 17 with two back-to-back episodes to kick off the season. Yes, this means that we’ll have less than 10 weeks of new shows due to the doubling up… but at the same time, it also means that the show will most likely wrap in 2024 without us having to wait extra time through the holidays. We shall see. Starting on October 24 the show will settle into its Thursday at 8PM time slot where it will air before Librarians: The Next Chapter.

Superman & Lois Season 4 will feature Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabath Tulloch, Alex Garfin, Michael Bishop, and Michael Cudlitz as series regulars; former series regulars who will be back as recurring guest stars include Inde Navarrette, Tayler Buck, Wolé Parks, Dylan Walsh, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Sofia Hasmik, and Erik Valdez.

Elizabeth “Bitsie” Tulloch who stars as Lois Lane in The CW series Superman & Lois does not own a time machine, but she did happen to be able to see the Superman & Lois series finale which probably won’t be airing until December 2024 at the absolute earliest.

“We watched the Superman & Lois series finale at the final mix – so proud of the show,” she posted on her Instagram story with a heart emoji. She noted that this was her first time meeting much of the S&L post-production team as things like COVID got in the way during the process, not to mention, of course, that she was filming in Vancouver.

You can see screen grabs of her Instagram story below. The fourth and final season of Superman & Lois premieres October 17 on The CW; the new season will feature Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent aka Superman, Alex Garfin as Jordan, Michael Bishop as Jonathan, and Michael Cudlitz as Lex Luthor among its roster of series regulars. Previous series regulars will be back as recurring guest stars, with everyone who departed being expected to come back for return appearances within the final season.

Superman & Lois: Bitsie Tulloch on Season 4 Uncertainty & James Gunn

Bitsie Tulloch recently discussed the wait for Superman & Lois Season 4 renewal news and James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film.

The Elizabeth “Bitsie” Tulloch panel at the recent Superman Celebration was full of insights about Superman & Lois and teasers for Season 4 — you can read more of our coverage of the event here. One aspect we did not cover, though, was Tulloch discussing the uncertainty about whether there would be a Season 4 or not — and what she thinks of James Gunn having a new Superman movie in 2025 which will star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

“We did sort of end early,” Tulloch admitted, before heaping praise on the next director to bring Superman to the screen once Superman & Lois has concluded. “I’ve met James Gunn. I adore him. I think he’s really smart. I think he’s a wonderful visionary, and I’m looking forward to seeing his Superman movie, and I’m looking forward to seeing Rachel Brosnahan, who’s going to be the next Lois Lane,” Bitsie said, acknowledging that all of these actors are part of a line, and there will be another Lois Lane after Brosnahan, just like there were Loises before her, and affirming that there’s always been a reverence to previous Lois Lanes in her performance.

Tulloch talked about how at the previous year’s Superman Celebration, Tyler Hoechlin was on stage and very nervous, because at the time, he did not know if the show would be renewed for Season 4 or not. “We couldn’t believe that we didn’t know that late,” she recalled. “My husband and I were in we’re still in Vancouver, just because our daughter was in preschool. and I’m like, ‘I can’t believe they’re telling us this late~ Are we getting renewed or not?’ It started to feel like that might be it, which was a bummer, because you all saw the end of Season 3 with Doomsday, and then it just goes to black, and I was just thinking, ‘my God, if that’s the end of this series, that’s so annoying. More annoying than the Sopranos ending or the LOST ending. It’s just this’!”

Eventually, Bitsie got a call from a producer at Greg Berlanti’s production studio, who assured her that everyone loves the show, and it will be back for a smaller, 10-episode season. “It was exciting being able to finish the show,” she said.

You can watch Tulloch’s comments in the video below (courtesy of the Superman Homepage who posted the video). Superman & Lois Season 4 – the show’s final season – premieres this Fall on The CW.
