Obviously an undertaking such as KryptonSite takes up a lot of bandwidth, and that costs money. Beyond that, though, your webmaster Craig is still barely employed. How can you help? Ordering through any of the Amazon.com links always helps, but you can also donate to the site via PayPal! The links to do so are just below. Thanks!! Any help is appreciated. Catholic Bishops' Office Says Smallville "Holds Promise"
(10/7) Ryan Pratt writes in with this news:

"This may sound odd yet could be interesting. Recently, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Office of Film and Broadcasting (http://www.usccb.org) did a review of the fall season's new TV series. The reviews were printed by Catholic News Service (http://www.catholicnews.com) here in southern California in the current edition (Oct. 5th) of "The Tidings" (http://www.the-tidings.com), the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and most likely was printed in the numerous other Catholic diocesan newspapers around the country as well. Many of the shows reviewed were criticized and labeled as "Don't Bother", but Smallville was seen positively and marked as "Holds Promise". Here is a copy of the review...

--"Smallville," Tuesdays, 9-10p.m. Drama about the teen years of Superman's Clark Kent growing up in Kansas with the parents who adopted him as their own after the alien todler landed on earth during a meteor shower.

Holds Promise: An intriguing premise with interesting chracters and above-average acting that explores adolescent alienation and yearning while working in themes of family and friendship.

Now, it may seem odd to take notice of a religious periodical's review of a regular TV show like Smallville. Yet I mention it though, because it, as I mentioned earlier, is most likely being printed in the other U.S. diocesan newspapers, in addition to The Tidings. And, for those Smallville/Superman fans that happen to be Catholic, it might be interesting to know that their bishops think Smallville has the potential to go up, up, & away! (Yeah, I know that was corny)."

Thanks Ryan for passing that along!

New York Post Predicts Smallville Will Be Big
(10/7) EmotionalHermit has sent us a tip that the New York Post today featured an article about Tom Welling, where Tom talked about his initial audition for the role of Clark Kent:

"I went to the final screen test between me and another fellow," he remembers. "I was on my way back from the Warner Bros. studio and I stopped in a gas station to call my manager and tell him how it went. I called and get him on the phone and he said, 'Can you hold on a second?' I'm like, well, alright. I'm thinking, 'Thanks for the priority.' Next thing I know, there are literally seven people on the other line and almost in unison they say, 'Tom, you got it!' "

You can read the Post's entire article online here. Less than a week left until Smallville premieres on the WB!

Smallville Centerfold & Blurb In New DC Comics
(UPDATED 10/6) Some of this week's new DC Comics feature a 2-page Smallville advertisement in the centerfold pages of the new issues.

Smallville is also featured in the "Hey Kids, Comics!" page of the DC books as well. Unfortunately the article said Smallville premieres in November (when actually it's October 16!), but it's good publicity. And if any of you are comics fans who saw the ads and are now swinging by the site -- check out the pilot. You won't be disappointed.

You can find this week's new comics shipments at comics stores across the country (just check the yellow pages for "Comic Books.") And for great comics features and reviews, visit 4 Color Review at http://www.4colorreview.com.

We have learned that the Smallville poster ad has also appeared in a full page in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly (the "Soundtracks" issue).

"Smallville" and its characters are copyright ©2002 Warner Bros. & DC Comics. This is a fan site and not authorized by the WB or DC. Page copyright ©2002 Planet Krypton Productions, unless the material is noted as coming from someplace else. Smallville stars Tom Welling, Kristin Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum, John Schneider, Annette O'Toole, Sam Jones III, and Allison Mack.
