LOIS
& CLARK: SECOND SEASON EPISODE GUIDE
After Deborah Joy LeVine's departure, the first half of Season 2
was spent trying to find a new "direction" for the
show. Thankfully, the "new direction" of action over
romance failed, and we finally got some romance by the end of the
season. If the "action episodes" had lasted any longer
there could be a good chance that "Lois & Clark"
would not still be on the air today The second season's
"regular cast members" included DEAN CAIN as Clark
Kent/Superman, TERI HATCHER as Lois Lane, LANE SMITH as Perry
White, JUSTIN WHALIN replacing Michael Landes as Jimmy Olsen, K
CALLAN as Martha Kent, and EDDIE JONES as Jonathan Kent. Also
appearing frequenly were Farrah Forke as Mayson Drake, Jim Pirri
as Dan Scardino, Barbara Bosson as Dr. Friskin, Barry Livingston
as Sheldon Bender, and Denise Crosby as Dr. Gretchen Kelly.
This episode guide includes guest cast, air dates as well as (for
some) a "Krypton Rating" as to where the episode fell
in our 1999 "favorite/least favorite episodes" poll.
Since past versions we have also added "Things To Look
For" into the synopses; things you might have missed the
first time around that you'll catch in the repeats. Episode
titles and all that are copyright 2000 Warner Bros. Television.

#22 "And The Answer Is..."
Episode #43
Written By: Tony Blake & Paul Jackson
Air Date: May 21, 1995
Guest Stars: Maurice Godin, and Tony Jay as "Nigel"
Krypton Rating: Voted #5 Favorite by fans in 1999
Clark must rob a jewelry store or his true identity and his
parents will be harmed. When he is ordered to kill Lois, will his
plan of putting her in "suspended animation" actually
work? When he is finally reunited with Lois, Clark decides that
they shouldn't take life so slowly, because not everyone is
immortal... and he proposes to her.
SPECIAL NOTE: Three endings to this episode were filmed. The
first ending ended with "Clark....," and it was shown
at the tail end of "And The Answer Is." Strangely,
"We Have A Lot To Talk About," the third season
premiere, opened with Lois saying "Who's asking, Clark or
Superman?" There was also a third ending, with Lois saying
"Yes," that was never used. All of these endings were
filmed for this episode, and the decision to use the
"Clark..." was made at the last minute.
TRIVIA!
What was the difference between Lois's response to Clark's proposal at the end of the "And The Answer Is" cliffhanger, compared to what aired at the beginning of "We Have A Lot To Talk About" that fall?
Look for the answer in the next newsletter. The answer to last issue's trivia: The "older Jimmy" in "Brutal Youth" was played by Jack Larson, who played Jimmy in the 1950's "Adventures of Superman" TV series.
