The daily Krypton Club Newsletter wasn't something that would last long for the world. Issue #14 (June 4, 1995) announced that as of the next issue, the newsletter would go to a twice-a-week schedule.

Issue #13 featured the results of the first-ever L&C Poll, which showed what was fresh on the minds of the fans at this point in 1995. Interestingly, Ellen Lane was the only one of the Top Five-voted characters who ever did return. Sarah Goodwin is now more or less forgotten.

KIRK ALYN UPDATE
Several of you responded to the question "Is Kirk Alyn still alive?" Here's how you responded.

Gougou247: "Yes, Kirk Alyn is still alive, though not in great health. We interviewed him a couple of years ago for "The Comic Book Show" in Dallas, Texas, and he was a complete gentleman, and we really enjoyed the time with him -- He was interviewed by John Wooley, who is the entertainment writer for the Tulsa World. He usually makes it to the Summer Dallas Fantasy Fairs -- though he missed last year. The interview mostly covered his career as a serial western player. Of course, he also played another comic book character during his career -- Blackhawk."

Chevy 1969: "To answer your question, Entertainment Tonite reported that the original "Superman" Kirk Alyn is indeed still alive. But unfortunately he is suffering from Alzheimers Disease. So the men who have played the big guy have been the victims of some pretty sad circimstances."

Mit4: "Yes, Kirk Alyn is living in Texas with Atzheimer's Disease. He is in his eighties."

Pontellier: "A news story on KCBS said that he got Alzheimers Disease. I'm not sure if he's still alive. This curse, if there is a curse, is spooooky."

L&C POLL RESULTS (SO FAR):
The other day we asked which L&C character you'd most like to see come back. Here are the results so far; you have until midnight tonight (Friday, June 2) to send in who you think should return:
Sarah (from T:JO): 20 Dr. Friskin: 2
Jack: 14 Dick Van Patten: 1
Cat Grant: 11 Dan Scardino: 1
Lois's Mom, Ellen Lane: 8 Prankster: 1
Lucy Lane: 6 Superman's lawyer (from WWW): 1
Michael Landes: 5 Sam Lane: 1
Lex Luthor: 2 Mayson Drake: 1
Rolph (from Top Copy): 2 Alice (who still hasn't been seen): 1
Tempus: 2 Angela (from Season's Greedings): 1

Jack, the boy who might have known CK = Superman, is second with 14, and Cat Grant is a close third with 11 votes. What do you think? Send your responses our way! You've got until midnight tonight to do it!

L&C SIGHTINGS

THIS WEEK'S RATINGS
The following information came from Sun Go Kou. Thanks!!!

"Lois and Clark was down to #53 this week, maybe because it's a rerun. Home Improvement was taking the lead in the #1 and #2 spot, and NYPD Blue taking the third, Friends fourth, and Seinfeld taking the fifth place."

DID YOU KNOW....?
While filming "Season's Greedings", the L&C crew actually had some real snow. It didn't really snow in Burbank, but they had man-made snow as well as soap foam on the streets and cotton snow on window sills.

TODAY'S TRIVIA
Here is the trivia question for today.....

Which comics writer re-wrote the Superman "history" in 1986, making Superman more vulnerable and making it so Ma and Pa Kent were still alive?

The answer to yesterday's question as to what the toymaker's name in "Season's Greedings" was was Winslow P. Schott. CLARKXX, SUPERMAN74, SOUNDSQUAW, GORDNBARB, and ANN-MARIE MYERS got this one right.

Wrong answers came from PONTELLIER, who said the Toyman's name was "George Jefferson" and his wife was "Weezie" (how did I know someone was going to say that?); LISA REM, who guessed his name was "Mr. I. M. A. Space Rat;" and JBECKY, who guessed "That-guy-who-was-on-the-Jeffersons-and-was-really-mean-but-it-was-the-episode-that-Dean-wrote-so-he-was-cool."

Also, CLARKXX got the answer to yesterday's trivia, "Spider-Man," right, but I forgot to put it on. Sorry! =^p

Send your answers and trivia guesses via e-mail. Even if you don't know it, it's worth a try!

L&C POLL -- FINAL RESULTS:
The results are in as to which L&C character you'd most like to see return. The poll was held all throughout last week. Here's who you want to see.....

FIRST PLACE (22 votes): Sarah Goodwin, the young woman from "Target: Jimmy Olsen" who not only proved herself to be a potential love interest for Jimmy, but she also proved to be another thorn in Lois's side (and Lois is so cute when she's mad!). Her youth and spirit brought a majority of the people towards voting for her, and hopefully she'll be back someday.

SECOND PLACE (15 votes): Jack, the runaway who landed a job at the "Daily Planet" towards the end of the first season. It was hinted at that Jack may have known that Clark was Superman, but by the time the second season came around, Jack was gone and the storyline was dropped. The L&C producers say that Jack won't be back, but here's to hoping!

THIRD PLACE (13 votes): Cat Grant, "L&C"'s resident vixen. Cat added a lot of humor to the show that was missing when Season Two began. Not only would it have been interesting to see her and Emma Samms reunited in "Madame Ex" (Samms and Tracy Scoggins, who played Cat, starred on "Dynasty" and its spin-off, "The Colbys," together), it would also be interesting to see how Cat would react to L&C relationship. The producers also say Cat won't be back, but let's hope she can make it to the wedding at least!

FOURTH PLACE (9 votes): Lois's mom, Ellen Lane. It would be nice for Lois to have a mother figure around. It would also attract the "Murder, She Wrote geezer crowd" who watched Phyllis Coates as Lois in the 1950's.

FIFTH PLACE (6 votes): Lucy Lane. Lucy returned in "Metallo" (although played by a different actress). Lucy was one of the first characters on "L&C" that was "dumped" early on in the show. Surely she shall be back sometime.

Finishing out the list was Michael Landes (Jimmy #1) with 5 votes; Lex Luthor with 4 votes; Dan Scardino, Rolph (from "Top Copy"), and Tempus with 2 votes each, and finally, The Prankster, Sam Lane, Superman's lawyer from "WWW," Dick Van Patten, Alice (who still hasn't been seen), and Angela (from "Season's Greedings") got one vote apiece.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this poll!

NEW SUPERMAN COMIC FROM DC by Craig Byrne
Head to your local comic book store, there's a new Superman comic on the stands!

The new title is called "SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF TOMORROW." It fits in to the current weekly Super storylines. The difference between this comic and the other Superman titles is that it only comes out four times a year.

Stories for MAN OF TOMORROW are by Roger (ACTION COMICS, "The Death and Life of Superman") Stern. Art is by Tom (ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN, SUPERBOY) Grummett, and inking is by Brett (SUPERMAN/DOOMSDAY) Breeding. Cover price is just $1.95, and it's on deluxe paper.

L&C SIGHTINGS
Lori Gorsch informs us that MAD Magazine has a L&C parody in this month's issue called, "Lotus & Cluck, the New Adventures of Stouperman."

There is also a similar parody in this month's "Cracked."

BEBE 4 LC WANTS TO KNOW....
I read with interest Craig Byrne's interview with John Byrne in 6-1-95 L&C KRYPTON CLUB newsletter. Overall it was very good, but two things jumped out at me.

First when asked whether Lois will say "yes" to proposal, JB said: "I hope not. Having Lois and Clark engaged has eliminated a vital element- sexual tension - from the series." (Ironic, isn't it, since he's the one who made it all possible.) Then when asked about ways the show could be improved JB said: "I think Teri Hatcher should appear totally nude at least three times per episode. Otherwise, I have no complaints." (Yeah, right, and people wonder why comic book are still dominated by male readers.) Good grief and puh-lease to both comments. :-p (I understand that's 'a stuck out tongue', if I knew the smiley for 'a raspberry', I'd throw in a couple of those, too.)

Which brings me to my reason for writing. After reading the ongoing discussions about the various directions and ways the show could, and should, progress on the message boards the last few months, I've become curious about something. Since several others are doing surveys this summer to relieve LCWS, I thought, why not. If you could please include some or all of this letter in a newsletter soon I'd appreciate it and I'll also post it on the boards several times. They should e-mail their answers to me by July 1 and then I'll let you know the results. Personally, I think if everyone responds honestly the results should be interesting.

1. Which incarnation of Superman do you prefer - the traditional pre-revision one or the current revised edition? (if you don't know what I mean e-mail me for a short description of both)
2. Which decade does your age fall into? [Example - pre-10, teens (10-19), twenties (20-29), etc.]
3. Are you male or female?

Thanks,
Beverly

TODAY'S L&C TOP TEN LIST by ClarkXX & JennCu
From their home offices in Yorba Linda, CA. and Clinton, CT., Clark XX and JennCu have united to bring you the Top 10 reasons why the clothes on LOIS and CLARK "travel around" and get re-used so often......
#10. The sharing of sweat makes the cast closer
#9. Clark likes to wear the same on the interior, why not the exterior?
#8. They save money by having Jimmy wear Lois' dresses
#7. The show spends too much of it's budget on his "X-ray vision" and can't afford new wardrobes
#6. Because Clark likes to look "Ssssmokin!"
#5. Jimmy is convinced that only two of his shirts will "turn Lois on"
#4. Does anyone even notice what Perry is wearing anyway???
#3. The show was out of brand name sponsers
#2. Superman does the shopping for everyone at the Planet
And the #1 reason why the clothes on L&C travel around
and get re-used so often is:

DID YOU KNOW....? by Christian Lucas
You might be interested to know that in France we can see L&C every Tuesday evening with two episodes in a row. We are currently seeing the 2nd season. The pilot has never been shown on TV but was released on video. In Great Britain, the episodes are also released on tape. There are already the pilot and 3 tapes with 2 episodes available.

TODAY'S TRIVIA
Here is the trivia question for today.....

In the Superman comics, Cat Grant is still around, but she isn't working for the "Daily Planet." Where does she work?

The answer to yesterday's question as to who re-created the Superman character in 1986 was John Byrne. This one was a test to see who actually has been reading the newsletters in the past few days. JBECKY, JLEREBOURS, SUPERMAN74, PONTELLIER, LISA FREEDMAN, CHAKESPEAR, XFMULDER1, CLARKXX, GORDNBARB, LORI GORSCH, JENNCU, STEPH2703, and SOUNDSQUAW got it right. Only one person got this one wrong, and to prevent embarrassment, I won't list this person's name, but her guess was Roger Stern (current writer of the new Superman: Man of Tomorrow series)

"I LIE TO HIM ALL THE TIME!"

WELCOME!
Welcome to new members SBM15, Ryan Brewster, and Amy Roos! Welcome to the Krypton Club! Every time when you get a piece of e-mail with a L&C quote as the heading, that's your indication that the Krypton Club newsletter is there! All of you are welcome to participate; the Krypton Club newsletter is COMPLETELY INTERACTIVE!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT--PLEASE READ! by Craig Byrne
We (Craig and Dan) would like to thank everyone who has joined the Krypton Club in the last two weeks. Already we have received approximately 200 members. Thanks to all of you for telling your friends on the Internet about the club, and thanks for responding to all of the trivia.

We take pride in the fact that this is an interactive newsletter--meaning most of it is written by you, the fans. This has also meant we've been receiving upwards of 70 e-mails per day. Which is good; we like it a lot, and we hope you continue to do so. So you want me to get to the point, I know.....

Unfortunately, starting this week, the Krypton Club Newsletter will only be sent out twice a week. This way we can include all of the comments, information, etc. that you send us without spending over 2 hours a day on it. (which is what we were doing). Your input is what makes this newsletter work. Both of us hope you all understand.

After tomorrow's newsletter (we will still be doing one tomorrow), the newsletters will only come out on Sundays and Thursdays, unless we have something really special to send out. This way we'll have more time to put together a quality newsletter that you will enjoy reading and being a part of. You won't regret having stayed on with the Krypton Club; look for an interview with a certain "Man of Tomorrow" in an upcoming newsletter ("Man of Tomorrow" is a clue; and no, we are not talking about Dean Cain, either).

We hope all of you understand, and are not upset by this decision. Thanks.

L&C POLL #2
Thanks to everyone who participated in last week's poll! Now here's a new one....

"Which character from the Superman comics would you like to see on L&C?"

It can be another super-hero (like Gangbuster, Guardian, Thorn, or Superboy), or it could be a civilian friend who works at the Daily Planet (like Ron Troupe). It could even be a new character (like "The Contessa" from the new SUPERMAN: MAN OF TOMORROW series).

Send your responses our way! This poll ends Friday!

L&C SIGHTINGS
KB4UMASS informs us that Teri Hatcher is in a new Bally's commercial with a bunch of pigs. Yes, pigs.

LOIS95 informs us that Justin Whalin will be on HBO in "Serial Mom" this Wednesday (6/7) at 11:30PM and next Saturday (6/11) at 11:15 PM. See him get caught red-handed (and red in the face <G>)!

TODAY'S L&C TOP TEN LIST
From the home office in Annapolis, Maryland, here are the Top Ten Coolest Superman Comics You Can Buy.... (yes, for once, a SERIOUS one.)

#10. Panic in the Sky Trade Paperback. Superman and a million other DC Comics super-heroes battle Brainiac.
#9. The Lois & Clark Trade Paperback. Reprints of a bunch of cool stories focusing on the L&C relationship. Oh yeah, there's a photo cover of Teri and Dean, too.
#8. Death of Superman Trade Paperback. See what everyone was talking about in November 1992. Superman battles Doomsday, gets his butt kicked and dies. (Don't worry, Super-fans, he ultimately defeats Doomsday in the Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey mini-series!)
#7. Return of Superman Trade Paperback. Now see him return! See a world with not just one Superman; it has four of them (five if you count the real deal)! This huge (200+ comics pages) book is lots of fun to read.
#6. (Okay, so this is four of them) The Superman #0 issues, published last year. These issues not only had cool covers and were fun to read, they also introduced Conduit, who later "killed" C.K. and would also be a cool person to see on TV someday.
#5. Action Comics #252. First appearance of Supergirl. This one might go up in value even more if she shows up on "L&C" sometime.
#4. Man of Steel (mini-series) Trade Paperback. Re-introduced the world to Superman. Set up storylines that still continue today.
#3. Superman (current series) #50. C.K. proposes to Lois Lane. And she says--yes!
#2. Action Comics #662. Clark reveals his true secret to Lois! See how she reacted in the comic version. (This continues into Superman (current series) #53, if you want to see her reaction).
And the #1 coolest Superman back issue you can buy....
Action Comics #1. Yeah, fat chance you'll ever get that one. It's only worth about a hundred thousand bucks....

In response to yesterday's list about the recurring wardrobes, by ClarkXX and JennCu, Beverly Gray had to say the following: "I don't have a problem with the recurring wardrobe on L&C...in fact, I LIKE it. It makes the program more realistic; after all, I wear MY clothes more than once."

TODAY'S TRIVIA
Here is an easy trivia question for today.....

What is Clark's middle name?

The answer to yesterday's question as to where Cat Grant works in the comics is Galaxy Communications Channel 3, WGBS-TV, where she is a talk show host. SUPERMAN74, GORDNBARB, JIM
BOOGIE, SOUNDSQUAW, DICK SIDBURY, and LDM ECO got it right. SBARFI7059 said she works the corner of 38th and Orchard. That could be true, I don't know.... An interesting side-note is that WGBS is owned by Morgan Edge and his father, who underwent slight name-changes and became "The Churches" of Metropolis.

BREARLEY thought that Cat wrote for a tabloid newspaper like "The National Enquirer," and PONTELLIER guessed McDonald's or Taco Bell.

Send your answers and trivia guesses via e-mail. Even if you don't know it, it's worth a try!
