More Quotes About Reeve's Smallville Appearance
Special thanks to: Izzy

Cinescape.com features some new quotes from Michael Rosenbaum, Tom Welling, and executive producer Miles Millar regarding the upcoming appearance of Christopher Reeve on Smallville. Here's a sample:

"I’m honored; I’m thrilled," enthused Michael Rosenbaum, the chrome-domed teenage baddie himself. "You know that it's great when millions and millions of people watch the show and you’re the highest rated show on a network – that’s all great. But when a respected actor who everyone looks up to likes your show then… I mean Christopher Reeve likes the show. That means something; that means something more. It’s special."

You can read the entire article here, but be warned that there are major spoilers within and also know that the article mistakenly reports "Rosetta" as airing Feb. 17 instead of the correct Feb. 25.

Nasty Simon Proves More Evil Than A Blind Lionel
As expected, the two-hour American Idol blew most of its competition out of the water, resulting in slightly lower than usual ratings for Tuesday night's fantastic episode "Insurgence."

Those of you who missed it may want to give it a chance when it airs on Sunday as part of the WB's Easyview program.

The WB did, however, praise the episode's #2 ratings results for its demographic. "SMALLVILLE was #2 in all 12-34, 18-34 and teen demos," the WB stated in a press release. "Its ratings were 3.9/10 in adults 18-34, 3.8/10 in persons 12-34, 3.7/9 in women 18-34, 4.1/11 in men 18-34, 3.7/9 in women 12-34, 4.0/11 in men 12-34, 3.7/10 in teens, 3.6/9 in female teens and 3.7/11 in male teens. SMALLVILLE was also #2 in men 18-49 (3.5/9) and #3 in adults 18-49 (3.4/8) and women 18-49 (3.3/7)."

Here's a look at the fast overnight-ratings breakdown for the hour. We were unable to get ratings numbers for most of the networks this week, so unfortunately, all we know is where they stood, hence the asterisk (*).

Reign Of The Supermen: Welling & Reeve Talk
Comicon.com's Pulse was lucky enough to have a chance to cover the upcoming historic meeting between former "Supernan" Christopher Reeve and Tom Welling for the upcoming episode "Rosetta."

Among the interesting things to come up, Reeve talked about the plans for a new Superman movie and said this. "The character is more important than the actor who plays him because of the mythology. I'm sure that they'll take their time and find the right man. But it should be an unknown." Reeve then turned to Tom Welling and said "Tom, you're probably not an unknown any more." We here at KryptonSite definitely agree.

Comicon's article also includes some photos from the press conference which was held on Friday. To take a look at their coverage, click here!

Full First Season Smallville DVD Not Coming Until At Least 2004

Despite some rumors to the contrary, the WB this weekend revealed that the earliest they'd commit to a Smallville full first season DVD set would be in 2004.

For more details, check out the Futon Critic. Those of you who'd at least like to see the pilot on DVD can order it through Videoflicks.com!

Al Gough Talks About Lex
One of the comments made at the recent WB Winter Press Tour to be made by executive producer Alfred Gough concerned the character of Lex Luthor, played by Michael Rosenbaum. Here's what Al had to say, and don't worry, there are no spoilers in this quote:

"The best villains don't believe they're villains. They believe they're totally in the right. And I think that's what Michael brings to it, and he's basically a young man trying to find his way in the world with a father who is basically crushing him at every turn," Al said.

"I think the great thing with Lex is you always think, 'Oh, God, if there were moments that went another way, would he have turned out differently?' And I think Michael just brings a real subtlety to a role that could very easily be over the top."

DC Comics' Paul Levitz Talks About The Success Of Smallville
DC Comics President and Publisher Paul Levitz recently talked to the Newsarama website about the success of Smallville and how it factors into new readers for comics.

"When you get something like Smallville that, besides being successful, is as well done as it is, I think that has to influence you creatively," he told the website. "I was talking this morning with Keith Giffen, and we were talking about whether the kid who’s falling in love with Superman today is likely to be falling in love through Smallville, where we fell in love through the comics. But maybe some of the guys of my generation fell in love with the character through the George Reeves show, before they found the comic. Has the world changed? Yeah, but either way, you want to take the creativity that other people bring to the property and bring it back in. If someone discovers a new way to tell stories about a familiar face, let’s take advantage of it."

Levitz also had a few more things to say. To read the complete interview, check out Newsarama.
