Smallville DVD

You won't see this in stores in the United States but you CAN order it through Videoflicks.com. The DVD includes deleted scenes, a map of Smallville, and, oh yeah, what sounds like the Smallville pilot and "Metamorphosis." The DVD also includes commentary from executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and pilot director David Nutter. What are you waiting for? Order a copy!

Superman For All Seasons
Smallville explores the story of a young Clark Kent and his place in the world on television. In the comics, this was very well illustrated in Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's "Superman For All Seasons." This has been labeled a "must read" by many fans and also listed as the favorite Superman story of recent years by many. Check it out!

Superman Transformed!
In 1997 the creators of the Superman comics altered Clark's powers. Since it's a given that Smallville's Clark may be dealing with at least one electrical wraith, here's where you can find out what happened when things turned shocking for Superman. It's also good if you were away from the comics for a while and were wondering what that blue Superman thing was all about.

National Review Covers Smallville
(1/14) The conservative National Review wrote a positive review of Smallville, which you can read online by clicking here.

Despite erroneously reffering to Lana as "Lana Lane," the article's writer Andrew Stuttaford still obviously did his research for this piece. The article refers to a classic Lois Lane comic book story, and also offers fun observations on the characters, from calling Lex a "complex, complete individual" to calling Whitney "a WASPy jock with the sort of preppie good looks that will almost certainly ensure him a future role as the date rapist in a Lifetime movie."

Special thanks to Kat (KMP) for passing this along!

Smallville Featured In Esquire
(1/14) Esquire magazine has included Smallville as one of it's best new shows of the 2001-2002 TV season. We're assuming this mention in in the latest [February] issue.

Smallville has also been getting positive notice recently in the United Kingdom, where the show premiered last week. Positive reviews of the show have appeared in such places as the London Times and the Daily Mail.

Smallville Action Figures On The Way!
(1/9) The Comics Continuum website reports that action figures based on the Smallville TV series will be coming soon from the DC Direct line.

The action figures are scheduled to be solicited in April, with no announced release date as of yet. The three-figure set will feature Clark, Lana, and Lex -- as they appear in the show.

UPDATE: ShannenB2000 tells us that the DC Direct figures will be on display at many toy fairs over the next few months, including the Nuremberg Toy Fair on January 31 and the New York Toy Fair on February 8. We'll post some preview images if we can get to them, here on KryptonSite.

Whitney, back when he had bad hairSpoilers For A "Kinetic" New Episode!
(1/8) KryptonSite has obtained spoiler information about another new episode of Smallville that will be airing in February or March.

Titled "Kinetic," the episode involves some former jocks who decide to bring Whitney into their schemes.

So what are you waiting for? You know you want to read the KryptonSite spoilers page to find out more!

(1/11) Kristin Kreuk (Lana) is on the cover of the latest issue of YM Prom, now on sale! Inside you can "win Kristin's dress" and "Kristin answers your prom questions." You can find a picture of the cover to your right.

YM's website is also asking who you'd like to see on a future cover of the magazine; and Tom Welling is one of the four choices. Come on; you can't let someone else win! So visit YM's site and vote!

Thanks to AngelGrl for the update and for the cover!

Kristin Kreuk in the L.A. Times
(1/16) Kristin Kreuk (Lana) was recently featured in an article in the L.A. Times, where she talked about being a Vancouver-based actress, her unexpected discovery, and most interestingly, her Canadian accent.

"They always have to watch my 'sorrys' and my 'abouts,' because I do speak Canadian," Kristin told the interviewer, adding that they occasionally have to rerecord her dialogue for the final production.

You can read the complete article about Kristin by clicking here. Special thanks to Indigo and Jaxx for passing this along.

Shawn Ashmore Featured In The Vancouver Province
(1/13) Shawn Ashmore, who will be appearing in the upcoming Smallville episode "Leech," was recently featured in the Vancouver Province newspaper.

"I love special effects work because you never know how it's going to turn out," Ashmore told the paper. Shawn is familiar with appearing in projects with special effects -- previous credits include the TV series Animorphs and the X-Men movie (as Bobby Drake/Iceman).

"They mashed it all together and made it look like it did. I start walking down the hall, and from the feet up it turns into Mystique," Ashmore said of the X-Men experience. "I had no idea until I saw the movie - at one point it's Rebecca Romijin-Stamos' body with my head on it - whoa."

The article also featured some episode spoilers which have now been added to KryptonSite's spoilers page.

TV Zone Features "Hourglass" and "Craving" Reviews
(1/11) The UK's sci-fi television magazine TV Zone featured reviews of "Hourglass" and "Craving" in their 147th issue.

We're told that TV Zone's reviews weren't all that positive (except the one they did for "X-Ray"), but the reviews are surely accompanied by photos. If anyone has read the issue and can tell us what they said, let us know!

And if you're looking for said issue of TV Zone, there's a picture of the cover to your right.

Tom Welling Among E!'s "Sizzlin' 16"
(1/9) ShannenB2000 also tells us that E! Online has named Tom Welling as one of their "Sizzlin' 16" for the year 2002. The sixteen are commemorated in a special on the E! cable network.

The E! special will be premiering Saturday, February 2, 2002 at 6PM. They will also be re-airing the special for a few days afterward.

It's... "Showtime!"
(1/7) Smallville showrunners/executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar received screenplay credits for the upcoming film titled "Showtime" starring Robert De Niro and Eddie Murphy. Trailers are now making the rounds in theaters. The Internet Movie Database describes it as "a spoof of buddy cop movies where two very different cops are forced to team up on a new reality based T.V. cop show."

You can see the "Showtime" trailer by visiting the movie's official site. The movie is due out in the United States in March.

XPose Magazine Features Smallville Mini-Reviews
(1/7) Issue #63 of the UK's XPose sci-fi magazine features four small reviews of the first four episodes of the show.

While the reviews themselves weren't glowingly positive (but not that negative either), it was nice to see the show getting some notice. Pictures from the show accompany the article. You can find a picture of the issue to your right.

Smallville is also featured in the year-in-review XPose Special.

Exclusive Interviews With Tom, Kristin and Michael in J-14 Magazine
(1/3) KryptonSite has learned that next month's issue of J-14 magazine, which should be hitting newsstands on February 18, will feature exclusive interviews with Tom Welling (Clark), Kristin Kreuk (Lana), and Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) -- which should make the issue a "must-get" for Smallville fans.

Don't worry, we'll remind you when the issue comes out. J-14, for those of you who don't know already, is a teen magazine frequently found at grocery stores and regular newsstands everywhere.
