Smallville's Dukes of Hazzard Connection
The November 3 episode of Smallville not only reunites John Schneider (Jonathan) with his Dukes of Hazzard TV series co-star Tom Wopat; it also will feature a special guest appearance by someone - or something else from Dukes lore.

Previous spoilers from the episode have revealed that Tom Wopat's character of Jack Jennings would own a 1969 Dodge Charger much like the classic "General Lee" car of the original series. What we didn't know before now is that the Charger being used in the episode will actually be a car that used to be painted as a General Lee.

We heard from Richard Cummins of Cummins Stuntworks, who also happens to be the owner of a stunt "General Lee" that they will be using for the episode. Cummins did some work for Smallville during the first season; you know, the year when Whitney had car wrecks every other episode. While the '69 Charger will be repainted, he assures us that the car will retain its Dukes-style "vector rims" and that Jonathan Kent and Jack Jennings will be winding through the back roads of Smallville as if it was Hazzard all over again. Even more spectacular - and surprising! - is that, yes, there will be a big car jump sequence, and Cummins hopes he will get to do the stunt himself with fellow stunt man Heath Stevenson. "As a stunt driver and the owner of this 50,000+ car - if you're going to munch it, let Daddy do the munchin'," he said.

See a photo of Cummins' car with John Schneider and Michael Rosenbaum's "Lex" stunt double!

The name "Jack Jennings" in itself is a Dukes reference, as Waylon Jennings was the show's "Balladeer." Dukes of Hazzard fans should love this episode, which, as we've said, is currently scheduled for November 3. Especially those of you who were a bit disappointed by that recent big-screen movie that had little to do with the original series beyond that orange car and some familiar character names and short shorts.

UPDATE (8/23): It sounds like the 1969 Charger will be painted blue at this point. And here we were hoping for orange, or perhaps black - the color the car was in the classic episode "Happy Birthday, General Lee" before the Dukes got a hold of it.
