Bart
Allen Returns To Smallville
Wow.
It's been nearly two years since this site was last
updated!
It's
been a busy one - on Smallville, Clark Kent
has met other super-heroes such as Cyborg, Aquaman,
and the Green Arrow. A Smallville spin-off
did surface with Aquaman,
but the CW chose not to pick it up as a series. Actor
Kyle Gallner kept himself busy with a role on Big
Love plus playing the major role of Cassidy "Beaver"
Casablancas on Season
2 of Veronica
Mars.
Now,
Bart Allen is scheduled to return to Smallville in
January 2007 with an episode called "Justice."
In it, Bart teams up with Green Arrow, Clark Kent,
Cyborg, and Aquaman to form the Justice League for
the very first time. (Click
here for spoilers)
Considering
Kyle Gallner's other projects and the popularity of
the Green Arrow
character with spin-off potential, it is unlikely
we'll see The Flash spin off... though... as part
of a Justice League series would be quite cool, wouldn't
it?
Anyhow,
stay tuned to KryptonSite for updates on when this
episode may air.
And
one last thing - since this site was last updated,
your webmaster wrote Smallville:
The Visual Guide for DK Publishing. Inside
is... you guessed it... a full page spread on The
Flash, containing some tidbits not covered or revealed
on Smallville.

Flash
TV Spin-Off Not Likely
Despite
very positive fan feedback to the episode "Run"
(airing again on January 12 for those of you who missed
it the first time around!), Smallville's Executive
Producer Alfred Gough tells Dreamwatch
magazine that the concept is more likely to lead to
a movie. Many fans, including us here at KryptonSite,
speculated that The Flash was being groomed
as a potential spin-off
series from Smallville.
Here's
what Al said, in Dreamwatch's January 2005
issue: "I believe that the TV division [of
Warner Bros.] had a window and I know they tried
last year with The Flash, and a year or two ago
as well. And now I think they've set it up with the
feature division. My guess is that they'll try to
do a movie of The Flash rather than a television show."
Since the magazine's articles were written, it has
indeed been announced that director David S. Goyer
(Blade: Trinity, Batman Begins) is doing The
Flash with no connection to his Smallville
appearance. Ryan Reynolds is rumored to be taking
the role. While the concept does sound cool, it would
be fun to see another DC Comics-related television
series on the WB again someday, and it's a shame that
the movie division seems to take a priority over TV
development.

Kyle
Gallner Speeds Into New Wes Craven Movie
Director
Wes Craven must really like Smallville actors
who have once played The Flash.
Michael
Rosenbaum (Lex) is in Craven's newest film, "Cursed,"
which is due in theaters on February 25. Michael,
of course, is also the voice of Wally West/The Flash
in the Cartoon Network's animated Justice League.
Now
it's Kyle Gallner's turn. After playing Bart
Allen in one of the best comics-inspired episodes
of Smallville's history, "Run," Kyle
has now been cast in Craven's next project, a Dreamworks
film called "RedEye." Rachel McAdams (Mean
Girls) and Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins)
also star in the film, which Moviehole
says is "about a woman held captive by a stranger
on an airliner who threatens to kill her father unless
she helps him arrange the assassination of a wealthy
businessman."
Congratulations
to Kyle Gallner on his new role, but let's hope
this doesn't mean he'd be too busy for a return appearance
in Smallville by season's end. (TPTB - You're
making one for us, right?)

Blade:
Trinity's David Goyer Takes On The Flash
Hopes
for a spin-off series featuring Kyle Gallner as Bart
Allen may be totally quashed as the Warner Bros. movie
division has claimed another DC Comics hero as their
own.
David
Goyer, who wrote the films "Batman Begins"
and "Blade: Trinity," will take on the Fastest
Man Alive, the Flash, as his next project. "'Flash'
is my favorite of the properties," Goyer told
Variety. "I think the character of the Flash,
who moves faster than the speed of light, opens itself
up to rich cinematic and story ideas."
Blade:
Trinity's Ryan Reynolds has expressed interest
in playing the character. We'll post more updates
here as they become available.

Spin Off: More Gossip...
Adding
fuel to the rumor fire that first came up in a KryptonSite
column, speculating that a Flash spin-off
from Smallville may be in the works... David
sends us to a Dark
Horizons report that said the following:
"At
the 'Comic Books to TV' talkie, which mainly focused
on classic 'Tales from the Crypt', it was revealed
that the WB is working on another series of The
Flash, sorta like CBS's version that had Mark Hamill
in it. and there's more in 'crypt' land to come."
If
you all would like to see a spin-off, a good start
would be to get as many people as you know (particularly
those with Nielsen boxes) to be sure to watch the
Oct. 20 episode! Of course, our sources are still
being quiet, not confirming nor denying anything....

No one's given any confirmation
leading either way, but KryptonSite's Craig Byrne
seems to think that the Oct. 20 Smallville

Ben
Jelen Not Playing Bart Allen
Unfortunately in the
world of internet reporting sometimes we come out
wrong. Even though we thought reliable sources confirmed
the rumors that singer Ben Jelen
("Come On") would be appearing in the fifth
episode of Season Four of the WB's Smallville,
he is actually NOT the actor cast.
The
episode is titled "Run," and in it, the
Flash will be Bart Allen, better known to fans of
the comics as Impulse or Kid Flash.
For
more details, read the report at KryptonSite.
