Old Headlines - April 15-30, 2002

Obviously an undertaking such as KryptonSite takes up a lot of bandwidth, and that costs money. Beyond that, though, your webmaster Craig is still barely employed. How can you help? Ordering through any of the Amazon.com links always helps, but you can also donate to the site via PayPal! The links to do so are just below. Thanks!! Any help is appreciated. "Drone" Ratings Soar!

(5/1) Note to ABC and FOX: Sitcoms instead of NYPD Blue or 24 just isn't good if you want to do well in the ratings.

While the CBS movie "Living With The Dead" did better than most anything else in the overnight ratings for April 30th, Smallville still held its own against the competition. Here's the chart:

A New Night For Smallville This Fall?

(4/26) The Futon Critic website has announced their predictions for the 2002-2003 TV schedule for the WB network, and they think that the WB may decide to move Smallville on over to someplace not talked about before by fans -- Sundays at 8PM, just before the WB's new take on the Wizard of Oz titled Lost In Oz.

However, if you don't like this, don't worry -- the WB doesn't formally announce their schedule until Tuesday, May 14. Please feel free to share your thoughts on the schedule on the KryptonSite message board.

The site also predicts that fellow DC Comics-related pilot Birds of Prey may land on Thursday nights, and that a new family series titled Home Of The Brave may take Smallville's old Tuesday-night spot. Again, we will all know in less than a month!

"Reaper" Ratings

(4/24) Despite being up against mostly repeats, the overnight ratings for the Tuesday, April 23 episode of Smallville were less than super, and the return of Roswell on UPN didn't do much better than the Buffy repeat from the week before. Here's the chart:

The Music of "Reaper"

(4/24) Here's a list of the music heard on Tuesday night's Smallville:

"Sparkle" by Rubyhorse
"Friends & Family" by Trik Turner
"The Weight Of My Words" by Kings Of Convenience
"Falcor" by Firengine Red

Follow the links and order these CD's through Amazon.com to help support KryptonSite! And if you know what parts of the episode these songs appeared in, send in some mail!

Be sure to talk about what you thought of "Reaper" on the KryptonSite message board!

Early Season 2 Spoiler!

(4/23) It may sound unbelievable considering the *first* season of Smallville isn't over yet, but some details about an episode that will air early in the show's second season have already gotten out. This episode won't be on until October or November, but if you're curious, the details are on the KryptonSite spoilers page!

Smallville Comic Update

(4/22) The Smallville one-shot comic book from DC Comics is due out "in September or October, to coincide with the show's second season premiere."

The comic will feature stories from many of the show's regular writers, including Mark ("X-Ray," "Rogue") Verheiden, who is no stranger to the world of comics.

It is hoped that DC will be doing a photo cover for the issue, which will also have many extra features (for example, a first season episode guide is pretty much a given). Keep reading KryptonSite for more details.

Remy Zero Talks Smallville At Pepsi's UK Site

(4/18) Oliver tells us that Pepsichart.co.uk has a feature on Remy Zero (musicians behind the "Save Me" theme song) if you visit the site and go to "Chart News."

One band member talked about the group's possible appearance in Smallville's first season finale. "We don't really know what we'll be doing, it's just been talked about right now, but I think they would like to have us play in a theatre in the show. We'll see what happens," he said.

Alexander The Great?

(4/17) Remember the discussion with Lex and Lionel in "Stray" that involved Alexander the Great?

It may only be coincidental that "Lex" is short for Alexander as well.

The latest edition of the Smallville Torch features the rest of the interview that Chloe was unable to finish from "Kinetic." In it Lex (in character) talks to Chloe a bit about his childhood, perhaps offering more hints into the background of he who is Lex Luthor.

To read it for yourself, click here.

Nope, Lex isn't the father. Would anyone be offended if I said "And baby makes three...?"Kelly Brook Is Expecting A Baby!

(4/14) Kelly Brook, who played "Victoria Hardwick" in four episodes of Smallville earlier this season, is expecting a baby, according to the UK tabloid Sunday People. The father is her boyfriend for several years, "Lock, Stock & Smoking Barrels" actor Jason Statham.

Kelly recently returned to the United Kingdom after not having too much luck in the States with her acting career.

Remy Zero To Appear In The Season Finale?

(4/14) "BatmanUK" sent us the following news:

According to a UK newspaper Remy Zero may be appearing as themselves in the "Tempest" episode of Smallville. In an interview with the Sunday Times' Funday Times section (14th April) the band say they'll be singing the theme song during a prom.

"The rest of the band and I will be appearing in a forthcoming episode, but we'll be playing ourselves. I think they want us to sing Save Me at a school disco or something".

In other Remy Zero news, the band's single of "Save Me" (Smallville's theme song) is due to be released in the United Kingdom on Monday. You can order it by clicking here. And of course, fans can get the American release of Remy Zero's entire album by clicking here.
